Hotel Overview:  Located in the heart of vibrant downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba -- at the historic corner of Portage and Main -- The Fairmont Winnipeg luxury hotel extends the naturally warm reception of the Prairies. Just step outside our Winnipeg hotel and the city is at your feet.

 

Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Front Office Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrates Fairmont Service Promise Standards and Fairmont Values in all interactions with both guests and colleagues.
  • Assists guest with luggage requirements upon arrival and departure.
  • Acts as a valet parking attendant and parks and retrieves guest vehicles.
  • Delivers items to guest rooms as required (faxes, mail, and parcels).
  • Acts an ambassador for the Fairmont Winnipeg by providing an excellent first impression for all guests of the hotel.
  • Uses guest names whenever possible.
  • Provides information about the hotel, its services and the surrounding area.
  • Provides directions to various destinations within the area, or the city itself.
  • Maintains a professional, pleasing attitude towards each of our guests and colleagues.
  • Addresses guest concerns and brings them to the attention of the Manager on Duty.
  • Ensures bell desk, lobby, guest rooms, and guest belongings are secure at all times, and any deficiencies reported immediately.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area including lobby, business center and driveway.
  • Remains observant and responds to each guest they come in contact with.
  • Cares for guests’ immediate needs by getting them settled and comfortable in their room upon registration into the Hotel.
  • Adheres to Health & Safety policy and ensuring safe work practices are followed at all times.
  • Adheres to the hotel’s environmental policies and procedures.

 Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years minimum of previous Guest Services experience.
  • Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks at stressful times.
  • Must be self-motivating, able to work effectively unsupervised.
  • Must be a team player and service oriented at all times.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license, clean driving record, and be able to provide a drivers abstract detailing your driving record.
  • Knowledge of driving a standard vehicle.
  • Good physical ability & must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.  Must be able to complete all physical aspects of the job without restriction.
  • Must be able to work various shift times including mornings, evenings, weekends and general holidays.
  • Must have positive and professional attitude, along with professional personal presentation.
  • Must have excellent English verbal & written skills.
  • Fluency in a second language an asset.

Physical Aspects of Position include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs.
  • Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
