Position : Groups & Events Sales Manager

What are we looking for?

Functions as the leader for the Groups & Events Sales team covering reactive sales focus. Additional focus towards proactive group & event sales efforts, where account management responsibility lies with team members. Shares responsibility for achieving group & event revenue goals, guest and colleague satisfaction. Implements the hotel’s service strategy and applicable hotel initiatives in all aspects of the sales process. Creates effective processes and procedures and puts performance management systems in place. Provides day-to-day leadership oversight to the on-property group & event sales associates with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of the hotel’s sales objectives. Maintains ultimate accountability for verifying that the team maximizes group & events revenue opportunities by up-selling.

Reporting to the Director of Group & Events Sales, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
• Oversee the contracting of all Group & Event business and effective handover to the Event Planning team.
• Manages the property's reactive group sales efforts.
• Develop, implement and enforce function space yield management guidelines thereby ensuring the highest profitability for the hotel.
• Develop, implement and enforce sales processes including but not limited to lead distribution disciplines, lead conversion targets, and response time targets.
• Determine, recommend and win prospective events from market information and other resources.
• Develop and maintain prospect list at all times and ensure that there is sufficient pipeline.
• Ensure effective relationship management of existing accounts.
• Exceed personal goals as well as department budget on a yearly basis.
• Work closely with the Director of Group & Event Sales and the Event Planning team in preparing daily/weekly/monthly analytics and function space yield maximization.
• Responsible for developing the annual business and marketing plan for the department in conjunction with the Director of Group & Event Sales and the Director of Operations.
• Conducts regular competitive pricing and product offering surveys.
• Ensure and enforce the integrity of Opera Sales and Catering at all times.
• Promote the professional development of all members of the Group & Event Sales Department.
• Ensure maximum employee satisfaction and conduct daily lead reviews with Group & Event Sales Managers/Executives.
• Ensure strict compliance to the health and safety guidelines of the department/hotel.
• Attend leadership, yield meetings, performance reviews and other meetings as required.
• Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).
• Coordinates and deploys group/event sales resources on-property to monitor the pull-through and sustainment of sales strategies and selling solutions
• Verifies that the property implements a seamless turnover from sales to planning to operations and back to sales while consistently delivering high level of service.
• Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels (e.g. Global Sales Organization (GSO), etc.) to verify the property needs are being achieved and the sales efforts are complementary, not duplicative.
• Gains understanding of the hotel's primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to and during the program/event.
• Develops a close working relationship with operations to execute strategies at the hotel level.
• Manages and directs the on-property group & event sales effort to achieve hotel revenue goals by proactively targeting current and new high value accounts in the market and implementing effective sales deployment strategies to grow market share.
• Creates effective structures, processes, jobs and puts performance management systems in place.
• Sets goals and expectations for direct reports using the Sales Accelerate process, align performance and rewards, addresses performance issues and holds staff accountable for successful results.
