This role will interface with business segments of The Walt Disney Company including: Disney Studios, Parks & Resorts, ABC, Disney Channel, LucasFilm, Marvel, Pixar and others in the administration and registration of their creative content. The role not only focuses on the registration of copyrights but also requires a heavy emphasis on administrative tasks including the securing, scheduling, and tracking of materials and data required for copyright; maintaining both a digital database and physical archival files; data entry; and the filing and forwarding of materials. Responsibilities
- Prepares and administers copyright registrations and document recordations, under the supervision of a department leader.
- Tracks the release and publication of materials required for copyright registration created and produced by various segments of the Company.
- Drafts correspondence and other written materials for review by department leader and/or in-house lawyers. Edits and reviews documents and reports for accuracy, format, and organization.
- Sets up policies and procedures with Segments of the Company and outside vendors for delivery of copyright materials and information required for copyright, under the supervision of a department leader .
- Responds, in coordination with department leader, to copyright inquiries from other departments within the Company including Trademark, Litigation and Antipiracy groups.
- Helps maintain Copyright Recordation Management Database, as well as the Company’s Copyright Certificate Archive Files.
- Corresponds with the US Copyright Office regarding copyright registrations and recordations issues.
- At least three years of paralegal or equivalent experience in a legal role.
- Ability to properly handle materials that are sensitive and confidential.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in English.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, and address multiple tasks/deadlines.
- Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, follow-through and follow up on work matters.

- Expert knowledge of administrative processes such as word processing systems, records management systems, file organization and maintenance, preparation of standard forms and other typical office procedures and terminology.
- Experience working within databases and using the USCopyright Database
- Office work environment - the employee must occasionally lift and/or move boxes with documents or materials up to 15 pounds.
- At least three years of intellectual property experience with an emphasis in copyrights preferred.
- Experience working with entertainment studios or companies is a plus.
- 4-year degree
- Paralegal certificate preferred.
