About the job
Overall Purpose of the Role:-
Lead member of the corporate tax team for Indirect Taxes

To understand and interpret the GST law as applicable to the transactions and business of the Disney India Companies, and implement GST compliance across the group of 4 entities in accordance with the GST positions taken by the Company

To periodically update & document the GST, Customs tax positions for the Company from time to time – for its transactions and businesses; to periodically review & update the resultant business & reporting processes, identify relevant stakeholders & train them on these tax compliant processes and procedure

To review, monitor, & report compliance with GST, Customs laws as applicable including ensuring that correct tax returns are filed with appropriate documentation to defend an audit; and are in accordance with the tax positions taken by the Company

To be an effective centre of resource to induce & maintain complete co-ordination between the ASP/GST service provider, the accounts department, other stake holders in the Company – to handle invoice mismatch & other GST related

To handle any litigation under any past law – Service tax, VAT, CST, Customs law; and any that may, if at all, arise in future on GST, Customs law and report status & strength of these open litigations from time to time to senior management

To be a tax business partner to advice lines of businesses from time to time

To be part in tax team driven business re-orgs, strategies etc. to improve value to the stakeholders.

To analyse impact of any change in law on various IT systems. Work closely with global and local IT team for making necessary changes in system.

Regular training to various stake holders in organisation like procurement, business, payment team etc.
- Development of end to end process note any new project undertaken and engaging with stakeholders for smooth implementation.

Ability to understand GST law and interpret to our business facts & transactions, study the impact on businesses, underlying processes and procedures and training people

Interest & energy to have thorough understanding of GST Law, Rules & procedure and remain update. Good interpersonal skill & ability to work with cross functional teams – including lines of business, business finance, business operations team, accounting, payments processing team, central procurement team, treasury, while reporting into the tax head on his function.
- Good communication skill, interpersonal dealing skill, be a team lead & induce collaboration amongst cross functional teams to achieve the tax process objective
- The person would be expected to interact also with external tax advisors; including the responsibility in being able to identify sound advisors and have well documented advice from them on matters being consulted.
- Minimum 7 years of experience
