The Business Network Design Services (BNDS) organization is responsible for network technology thought leadership and the consultative and collaborative design and engineering of unique and complex network solutions that perpetually align technology and business need for the Walt Disney Company. The BNDS organization partners with each and every Disney business segment, each offering unique and challenging opportunities to design, build and implement purpose built network solutions.
Working in BNDS differs from the ordinary, offering the opportunity to work with a wide variety of business segments, including Marvel, LucasFilm, Disney Interactive, Consumer Products, Parks & Resorts, Cruise Line and Pixar (to name only a few). Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s rarely resemble each other as BNDS finds itself transitioning from building the Shanghai Disneyland Resort, to networking the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars Land, Supporting the Oscars, to changing the way cable and broadcast television distribute content across the globe. Oh, and we occasionally help make movies too!
The Manager of BNDS West will find themselves at the forefront of this unique opportunity, working at the happiest place on earth. The Manager of BNDS West will work hand-in-hand with the Walt Disney Parks and Resort business segment, physically located at the Disneyland resort, leading an expert team of network engineers through the ever changing landscape called Disney.
Reporting to the Director of Network Services, the Manager of BNDS is accountable for leading, managing, mentoring and enabling the BNDS West Coast team in their perpetual journey to enable the business. The Manager of BNDS also finds themselves accountable for resource management, resource and project demand planning and forecasting, project portfolio management, overall service delivery, and service strategy and roadmaps.
The Manager of BNDS is accountable for Disney business segment customer relationship management, ensuring a tight alignment between the BNDS shared services offerings and the ever changing customer business need.
The Manager of BNDS works closely with the business and other Disney IT constituents, including local network technology and network operations groups, to solicit and rationalize business and technical requirements. The Manager of BNDS participates in business strategy development subsequently orchestrating the development and employment of realizable technology solutions across network, wireless and voice that provide value to the business segment and to the Disney organization overall in support of it’s objectives. The Manager of BNDS brings not only leadership, resource management and mentorship, but also the technical aptitude to guide BNDS technology recommendations and designs towards appropriate fit for use and adherence to technical standards.
The Manager of BNDS collaborates with the outsourced supplier(s) to communicate Disney network requirements and reviews the supplier recommended solutions/projects to ensure recommendations meet the business needs.

Basic Qualifications
  • 15 years of professional experience in technology infrastructure
  • 10 years of professional experience in network engineering
  • 5 years of professional experience in network architecture
  • 10 years of professional experience in IT service delivery
  • 10 years in a large enterprise environment that provides 7x24 services to a broad internal customer base.
  • 10+years progressive data communications experience in WAN/MAN/LAN/Wi-Fi network design, configuration, evaluation, problem resolution and project management experience.
  • Advanced communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide array of technical and managerial personnel to solve complex problems.
  • Strong customer service skills and orientation.
  • Possess knowledge of film entertainment, hospitality and video distribution.
  • Experience in Wide area, Local Area network and Wireless design and large program/project management.
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols including RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, RMTP, BGP etc. and telecommunication connectivity including MPLS, Private Line, Metro Ethernet, Site-to-Site VPN and internet.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all types of LAN environments (equipment hardware, software and cabling environment to support Ethernet, single-mode and multi-mode fiber optics, Cisco Nexus, ASR, F5, Juniper, MacAfee, etc.)
  • Experience in multi-platform computer and network environments (Wireless, VoIP, Video conferencing, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and oversee complex projects
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Adept at written and oral communications
  • Strong requirements facilitation skills
  • Ability to interface and collaborate directly with IT constituents, executives, business partners, and vendors
  • Ability to think innovatively
  • Self-organizing and motivated
  • Media, entertainment and ISP industry experience preferred.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, business, or other related scientific or technical discipline desired. Education can be substituted by at least 10 years of directly relevant IT experience.
