The Senior Tax Systems Analyst will be a team member of the Disney Financial Systems Department. The team member’s core objective will be developing, implementing and maintaining solutions that optimize the performance of the tax function and drive significant benefits through process improvement and leading edge technology.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the administration of all tax systems used by the Corporate Tax Department (e.g. OneSource Income Tax, SAP Consolidations, Business Intelligence Tools, SharePoint, WorkFlow Tools, Docusign, SAP Reporting and the Property Tax Management System) and participating in numerous Financial Systems projects throughout the year (e.g. new report development and process improvement initiatives using technology to solve). Responsibilities
  • Participates and aligns with long term strategy and processes within Controllership and Enterprise Financial Systems
  • Keeps abreast of technology and solutions for key finance processes and business analytics
  • Recommends and implements process improvement/reengineering initiatives
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of financial and US GAAP accounting principles, as well as knowledge of internal or external business issues, to improve our systems and business processes
Systems and Process Support and Governance
  • Learns and maintains an in-depth understanding of the Company’s financial and tax systems
  • Proactively administers, monitors and troubleshoots existing tax systems, such as OneSource Tax Compliance, OneSource Tax Provision, TaxDriveR, (a custom tax data repository built on SAP BFC), SharePoint and Workfront. Ensures that appropriate action is taken to resolve issues and communications are sent to keep the Tax stakeholders informed and updated.
  • Maintains high levels of support by solving issues and responding to requests for data and reports
  • Manages data and interfaces to and from various enterprise systems
  • Creates reports using SAP Financial Consolidations, SAP R3, SAP HANA, Cognos, Tableau and Business Objects Analysis
  • Documents system and process best practices, design documents and functional specifications.
  • Trains users and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Supports the governance and monitoring of Tax System compliance in accordance with company policies, standards and SOX requirements
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Regularly make decisions on non-routine or escalated issues but still subject to approval
  • Completes moderately complex to complex tasks and projects requiring independent initiative
  • Typically works on moderately complex assignments
  • Uses independent judgment requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors.
  • Collaborates with senior professionals in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach
  • May handle escalated issued for lower level staff
Process Improvement, Technology Implementation and Software Development
  • Recommends and implements changes to Tax Department processes and systems that encourage more effective utilization of all components of the technology platform
  • Partners with clients to understand pain points and champion process improvements
  • Interacts with Tax personnel, DTSS and subject matter experts to support system implementations and enhancements
  • Facilitates requirements gathering sessions
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions
  • Performs requirements gathering, solution design, testing, end-user training and communication
  • Regularly contributes actionable ideas in brainstorming and planning sessions.

Project Management and Communications
  • Leads small to medium scale projects or portions of a larger project.
  • Leads and executes project activities to ensure project progresses on schedule

  • Builds professional networks and identifies and connects resources to achieve goals.
  • Regularly interact with end user clients on matters concerning their functional area, segments and department
  • Concisely develops and deliver key information; ability to develop enhancements presentations
  • Conveys relevant information in a timely and concise manner
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of Tax Systems experience within a large public company or the Big 4
  • Working knowledge of SAP, information system concepts and data management techniques, including experience with interfaces between source systems and application software
  • Ability to evaluate, implement and maintain technology solutions such as OneSource RS, TaxDriver, Business Intelligence Tools, PTMS and WorkFront.
  • Federal and State E-File experience
  • Knowledge of SAP, (FI/CO, HANA, BCS, BW, BFC) along with the ability to query and manipulate large amounts of data
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Project)
  • Knowledge of SQL, database tools, reporting tools, and other application tools and languages
  • Passion for and knowledge of emerging technologies to deliver best practices ensuring tax systems integrity and controls
  • Good understanding of Income Tax accounting and operating processes and an interest in learning more
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail and quality
  • Demonstrated decision making, problem solving and process improvement skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with, advise and influence peers, senior tax leadership and external parties;
  • Solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Customer service oriented and responsive to customer inquiries
  • Proven ability to apply technology to solve business problems
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
  • Entrepreneurial, positive and client-service focused approach to work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in using Business Objects, Cognos or Tableau reporting tools
  • Experience developing and delivering end user training
  • Experience implementing financial processes and systems
  • Experience using systems designed to manage issues, changes and testing (e.g. Service Manager, Rational Team Concert, ALM)
  • Experience working for large company and within a matrix organization
  • CPA Certification or equivalent
  • PMP or other professional project management certification
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other related discipline
Preferred Education
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Computer Science or Management Information Systems
