Function
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the successful incumbent will be responsible to communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment. Identify, locate and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and shut-offs for buildings. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. Display solid knowledge and skill relating to kitchen equipment, energy conservation and general building management.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Recognised appropriate qualification advantageous
Trade tested electrician
Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams/schematics
Authorised LPG Gas practitioner – advantageous. SAQCC accredited
1– 2 years’ similar experience in a maintenance department or a similar position within a 5 star environment
Ability to work within a pressurized environment
Proactive, self-motivated Individual with good professional work ethic
Ability to work with limited supervision
Team orientation
Sound understanding of all health & safety regulations
Preference will be given to South African citizens
Key Responsibilities
Display proficiency in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, kitchen equipment, , energy conservation, and general building
Display basic ability to repair or replace PVC and copper pipe (including soldering).
Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment.
Perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
Perform mid-level troubleshooting of all hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
Inspect and repair all mechanical equipment.
Read, log, track and interpret readings from meters, gauges and other measuring devices.
Maintain the preventive maintenance records, inspections, and rounds using a computer management system.
Speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language.
Work with housekeeping staff and other departments to maintain all rooms, buildings, and property in perfect condition
Support the improvement of engineering services that effectively address problems affecting owners, guests and employees.
Complete all maintenance or repair assignments in a timely, safe and professional manner.
Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Display working knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, guest response, energy management, and other systems including devices that interact with such programs.
