The Lead Product Owner – Reservation Service will play a key role in the TUI Markets Transformation, driving a step change in automation, business agility, improved flexibility and product presentation.  

This is a global role as the product owner is responsible for this critical service that will be used by both local market teams and central teams for all holiday products and the bookable extra’s. Firstly, the reservation service which records details of the booked products at a granular level and publishes for use in downstream customer and commercial services. The ability to amend and/or cancel the sales order is included in the sales order flow. Secondly, the programme change service which caters for an integrated end to end process to identify changes, identify bookings affected by the change, propose alternatives, and amend the customer’s booking, making it as automated as possible. Intuitive UI for workflow and rules management, and tracking and reporting. This to ensure the change is communicated with the customer in the right format, the right frequency and at the right time.

The solutions this Lead Product Owner – Reservation Service will be accountable for will support the reservations management and programme change flow of over 12 million customers across multiple markets.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Establish a vision for your services, over a multi-year time frame, gaining buy-in from senior stakeholders  for significant change.  Joint with your technology colleague, you will play a key leadership role across multiple agile teams. In particular you will be accountable for ensuring that solutions are agreed and specified in a timely manner to meet overall transformation goals and that you prioritise the development to achieve success for which you will need to understand both business impacts and technical challenges and dependencies;
  • Work with technology teams to establish budgets and a business case for future investment in product and reservations including planning of required capacity;
  • Take a client centred approach to delivery, ensuring needs of end users are met whilst at the same time influencing their thinking to ensure buy-in to new ways of working that both maximises the benefit from your services and ensures commonality of process across the different TUI markets;
  • Work with agile delivery teams demonstrating a strong understanding of both agile development methodologies, technologies and TUI business to enable you to make decisions on different solution approaches and support the teams on solution delivery. In particular, you will lead the team in designing solutions where functional design is robust to future change;
  • Lead a small team of 2 product owners that support you in developing the capabilities required. You will both write and review user stories and be able to provide assurance on technical designs;
  • Work closely with IT teams throughout the agile lifecycle to prioritise effort to ensure benefit delivery is accelerated and maximized and project risks are minimized;
  • You will be put in place key performance indicators to track success of new capabilities and report on these on a regular basis;
  • Not only focus on delivery, but take accountability jointly with IT for successful deployment and continued operation of delivered capabilities. 


ABOUT YOU

  • Ability to think strategically and commercially – see the bigger picture, analyse complex problems and quickly evaluate options to meet business expectations;
  • Experience of prioritising and clarifying technology solutions and ability to quickly ascertain the cost/benefit of different approaches;
  • Understand customer needs, both internal customers and external customers and balance this with commercial drivers;
  • Knowledge of the TUI business model across multiple markets, with extensive knowledge of Commercial activities;
  • Knowledge of IT development lifecycles and demonstrable experience reviewing and contributing to technical specifications;
  • Excellent communicator and comfortable communicating high level concepts to senior stakeholders, whilst also being able to delve in to the detail of complex changes when required;
  • Self-motivated leader who takes initiative and works collaboratively with proven experience of motivating and developing a team, with the ability to manage ambiguity and quickly adapt to changes in priority;
  • Ability to influence, challenge, engage, negotiate and inspire team members, peers and stakeholders at all levels both inside and outside the division
