Regional Director, Sales and MarketingBased out of Fairmont Pacific Rim, this position is accountable for managing the total sales, advertising and promotional efforts within the Pacific Northwest Region; Fairmont Pacific Rim, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Waterfront, Fairmont Vancouver Airport and Fairmont Empress.  This includes the generation of all revenues consistent with hotel and company objectives; implementation of sales performance management systems; coordination of hotel's participation in local, regional, national and international advertising; direction of all media and publicity events. As Regional Director, Sales & Marketing you will oversees the activities of property based Directors of Sales & Marketing to ensure compliance to standards and procedures, monitors and analyzes sales and marketing activities against goals and takes action to deliver and exceed annual planned revenue goals.

 

Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Regional Vice President, Pacific Northwest Region, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

 

  • Achievement of total hotel revenue goals as set forth in the hotel's business plan
  • Identify key customers and establish goals for existing and new key accounts through the establishment of detailed action plans for each hotel's sales and marketing departments
  • Recruits, trains and evaluates sales and marketing staff in region and senior positions in assigned properties
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key business clients
  • Develops cluster sales and marketing representation where possible
  • Achieve budgeted room night quotas and average rates set out in the yearly business plan
  • Ensure delivery of superior guest services through coordination with other hotel departments
  • Provide ongoing sales and marketing direction through coaching and guides the development of customer action plans
  • Provide a motivated, competent staff consistent with hotel and company needs through implementation and approved personnel programs and execution of continuity and succession planning
  • Oversee the training and development programs available from ACCOR corporate office and identify the needs of all sales personnel in their specific region and the level of training required for them
  • Ensure the installation, maintenance and operational efficiency of in-house sales technology and systems management
  • Support the National Sales Office structure by providing data on multiple users and appropriate follow up.  Support other hotels with customer contacts
  • Provide each hotel with a quarterly sales and marketing review.  This may be done in conjunction with the Vice President of Sales
  • Provide guidance in preparation of monthly reports, backlog, tracking of account room nights in the group, Corporate IT, tour and leisure market segments
  • Overall guidance to all hotels in the region with the annual preparation of the business plan
  • Identify qualified and ready personnel that should be placed on the company Director of Sales and Marketing training program.  Approval process through the General Manager of the employee's hotel and the Vice President, Sales
  • Work closely with the Revenue Management division in head office on issues concerning pricing, branding, product enhancements for certain market segments, etc.  Inventory management and yield are two key areas of responsibility for this position
  • Direct the activities of outside agencies and internal staff on local and in-house advertising campaigns.  Supervise the production and distribution of literature, collateral materials and audio-visual aids.  Direct contact with the regions local advertising agency and communications with the Vice President of Marketing and the Corporate Agency on national advertising issues for all market segments
  • Coordinates the hotel's participation in multiple property and company-wide campaigns
  • Identification of those tradeshows that the hotels of their region should participate in, budget for and the personnel that should attend on behalf of the region or their individual hotel
  • Be an effective member of the hotel's executive committee in which they reside
  • Participate in Regional Director of Sales and Marketing meetings under the direction of the Vice President of Sales for Fairmont Hotels
  • Other duties as assigned

Regional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain familiarity with all sales statistics and reports.  Make recommendations concerning the direction of future sales and marketing efforts of the region
  • Oversees individual properties sales and marketing performance in collaboration with General Manager’s and Director, Sales & MarketingProvide guidance to all hotels in the region for the annual preparation of the business plan
  • Support the NSO network and monitor the working relationship and lead production between the NSO and assigned hotels
  • Assist in the maintenance and auditing process of all sales information systems in each hotel making sure of their efficiencies, productivity of the personnel responsible for their operation and the guidance in the purchase of additional equipment to keep each hotel current with technological advancements in the field
  • Monitor the overall sales office procedures to make sure they are conforming to company standards concerning all sales activities
  • Visit the hotels on a regular basis to review their performance, inform them as necessary on company policy, procedure and objectives.  Assist the staff with their problems and assist in providing opportunities for improved efficiencies and increased sales revenue
  • Incorporate additional reservations and inventory management accountabilities for the sales and marketing departments in each hotelRegular involvement and representation of ACCOR with owners in assigned properties
  • Should be directly involved with the placement of key sales and marketing personnel including sales, marketing, reservation, and catering and convention services positions
  • Knowledgeable about the competitive set for the assigned properties and on top of market share statistics
  • Ensures that the A&P budget at each hotel is in line with budget figure and that the appropriate dollars are being allocated to the key market segments for each hotel
 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of multi-property sales and marketing experience preferably within the luxury hotel industry
  • Professional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills are imperative
  • Proven ability to motivate, direct and inspire teams
  • Excellent knowledge of strategic and tactical planning for sales and marketing activities
  • Proven track record in understanding and development of revenue management initiatives
  • Demonstrated skill understanding all segments and distribution channels as well as Digital marketing
  • Hands on leader with excellent time management skills; a self starter

 

Physical & Environmental Aspects of the Position (including but are not limited to):

  • Frequent sitting throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Must be available to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Ability to travel and flexibility in terms of work hours
