Job Description

We are looking to hire a skilled baker for a full-time permanent position in our busy wholesale and retail bakery in Clifden, Co.Galway. We are based in the west of Ireland and are one hour and 30 minutes from Galway city. Our goal is for all our employees to enjoy the working environment whilst producing the very best for our customers.

We have a very busy seasonal trade from March until October, peaking in July and August with heavy tourist footfall. Our café and cake shop open seven days a week with a large production output. We are looking for a person to continue making some of our best selling products while also bringing forward new ideas for the retail display in our store. The months in the off season are quieter but the work would still be available for a five day week as we continue our wholesale production.

Potential candidates must have a good level of training in bread and confectionery production. Candidates must be passionate about their craft, have knowledge of sourdough and baguette work and in a fast paced environment. Other responsibilities include mixing, recipe calculation and organisation of production

To put it simply, if you have some experience in bakery work, are willing to give this job a go and relocate to Clifden we would be happy to train you up in the relevant areas.

Operating hours 6.30am to 3pm. No night work. Weekdays can be flexible but must be able to work Saturdays.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Attractive and negotiable in line with experience and organisational skills. €15 per hour with review on every one-year anniversary.
Language: Good Level of English required.
Accommodation: 3 months paid housing, help with sourcing your own accommodation thereafter.
Holidays: 20 days & additional time off can be accommodated in off-season.

Walsh's Bakery was founded in 1953 by Tom Walsh. He married his wife, Una, soon thereafter. Their seven children grew up helping in the bakery and shop. The Walsh family baking tradition is now carried on by their son, Cathal, with his wife, Joan, and daughter, Róisín.
