Job description

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.
The Facilities and Operations job family is responsible for the management of all logistical facilities support from an operational standpoint for FL to include but not limited to: all space planning, design, repair and maintenance, tenant improvement, moves, facility construction, support facilities planning, vehicles, hurricane preparedness, and special projects. Manage project construction efforts ranging from a small scope (repair and maintenance) to medium tenant improvement efforts. Act as point of contact with vendors, contractors, fellow Imagineers, and WDW partners. Provide leadership and technical expertise to manage various efforts in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and safety.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for planning and overseeing facility construction disciplines during the course of tenant improvement upgrade projects to WDI FL locations.
  • Assists Manager with multiple Tenant Improvement/Repair Maintenance efforts and problem solving.
  • Reviews drawings if applicable.
  • Reviews estimates, contract applications,
  • Provides facilities project oversight and technical leadership from conceptual design through construction of several (1 to 5) medium size facilities projects to include walks, estimates, logs, coordinating work, to completion of effort.
  • Coordinates with multiple internal WDI, WDW partners, and contractors that may include Finance, Contracts, Estimating, Scheduling, vendors, contractors.
  • Receives daily repair and maintenance requests, makes appropriate call for repair, continually follows request until completion/repair for WDI FL multiple locations.
  • Acts as a representative of the Facilities and Operations Division on the project team
  • Collaborates with functional management on staffing/costing and strategy issues
  • Directs activities of in-house staff and outside consultants in the preparation of construction contract documents
  • Provides technical and administrative direction to maintain project costs within budget
  • Performs mock-up space sizing analysis, coordination and allocation on -going basis
  • Responsible for managing design budgets that will may range up to $1M
  • Understanding of construction principles and how things are built
  • Ability to successfully lead project team including consultants, staff extensions, contractors, etc.
  • Decision-making responsibility
  • Elevates appropriate issues to Manager/Director level
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Manages relationships with owner/operator and is the primary representative for WDI
  • Ability to be a Facility generalist, to include but not limited to floor plan updates, vehicle tracking and coordination of PM.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3-5 year’s experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Facilities and Operation Work
  • Experience with scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and quality control
  • Design or facilities experience totaling a minimum of three years, including responsibility for production of working drawings, specifications and other construction documents in one or more of the major disciplines in the field of building design and construction
  • Must possess and conduct herself/himself with highest level of respect and professionalism. Work environment is extremely diverse and requires a strong depth of character and social excellence.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, SAP and with the vision, knowledge, ability to bring department into more of a data base environment
  • Ability to understand the needs of the clients and to manage relationships between owner and operator
  • Ability to give direction, adapt to change, establish relationships and work in a team environment
Required Education
  • High School Diploma with some college training in the facilities/construction field or a minimum on 3-5 years of actual work experience required
Preferred Education
  • Graduate degree in a core discipline such as: Construction management, Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, Project Management, or related disciplines is desirable
