Job description

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies for all aspects of WDI project and office locations warehousing and materials control. This includes material tracking, handling and storage, scheduling, problem solving, safety, cost savings, and operational procedures for Walt Disney Imagineering. Manages day to day warehouse functions and all material logistics for WDI FL. This position will be assigned and/or assist in other miscellaneous general Facilities and Operations type of efforts as given by Facilities Manager.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of material tracking, material handling/storage and operations procedures for WDI FL for both Project and Non Project work.
  • Make decisions to resolve all issues related to the movement, storage, reporting identification and tracking of project and non-project related material, working independently of supervision.
  • May assist with project office moves including configuration of walls and furniture, as well as project furniture trailer setup/tear down and storage.
  • Maintain inventory daily of all furniture at multiple WDI project and non-project locations, EPCOT and warehouse.
  • Assist with providing daily supervision to the building runners and share shift schedules and task assignments with Office Services Coordinator.
  • Maintain inventory of all furniture for WDI FL.
  • Develops strategies for storage and disbursement of inventory.
  • Accurately track all project and non-project related items to insure the timely, efficient and safe movement of material
  • Administration of the Item Tracking System (ITS) as used by WDI-Florida for shipping, receiving, storage and issue of project material
  • Insure the integrity of material in inventory. Maintain the capability of retrieving and issuing material on demand to support project schedules.
  • Establishes and maintain positive communication and working relationships with WDI Executives and senior project leaders, WDW Distribution, contractors, WDW Operations to insure project requirements and material will be accommodated in a timely manner.
  • Avoid loss or damage of unique project material by overseeing material handling procedures and operations (Traffic, Distribution, Contractors)
  • Makes decisions and resolves all issues related to the movement, storage, reporting, identification and tracking of project and non-project material
  • Coordinate with all areas that support the movement, storage, handling and utilization of material to insure correct procedures are followed (i.e. Traffic, Purchasing, Warehousing, Contractors, Carriers, Vendors and Projects, WDI Shipping/Warehousing that are both local and non-local)
Basic Qualifications
  • Familiarity with unique material and handling procedures required for insuring safety of the product
  • Understand the concept of material identification and creation of useable inventory lists
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive audit trail on all materials received, stored and issued
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Purchasing work related experience
  • SAP and Item Tracking System (ITS) training
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledgeable about how the Walt Disney World Company operates, knows how to get things done both through formal channels and informal networks
  • Possess the ability to maintain a positive working relationship with warehouse operations and project personnel requiring material handling and storage support.
  • The ability to effectively communicate material handling/storage requirements with respect, diplomacy and tact in a variety of settings to a broad range of personnel.
  • Must possess a strong degree of independent decision making abilities
  • Strong self-starter
  • The ability to evaluate material handling requirements and integrate the proper equipment and personnel to accomplish the task in a safe and efficient manner
  • Requires the ability to make logistical decisions on the fly to accommodate unique operations and support requirements
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products. Specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Background in material handling, storage and transportation
  • Experience with warehouse/inventory system
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Adherence to all personnel policies and company handbooks
  • Ability to take direction, adapt to change, establish relationships and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to keep Leader apprise of issues, special requests, updates, or need of direction.
Required Education
  • High School Diploma with some college training in the facilities/construction field or a minimum on 3-5 years of actual work experience required
Preferred Education
  • Graduate degree in a core discipline such as: Construction management, Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, Project Management, or related disciplines is desirable
