The systems estimator is responsible for establishing the show/ride budget, in support of the project estimator, during conceptual phase and to monitor the design for adherence to the budget throughout the remaining project life cycle. Duties include conceptual and detailed estimating, show/ride design review, vendor packaging and bid review, and progress billing/change review.
Responsibilities• Assist with the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
• Produce and quality check routine and ad hoc reporting to support project and functional management
• Assist in determining and analyzing mitigations for variances to plan
• Understands basic design drawings
• Assist in the development of project strategies, risk mitigations, and recovery/acceleration plans
• Collaborate with internal and external organizations including design studios, project and construction management, vendors, and contractors
• Understand project scoping documents, deliverables, and plans
• Assist with the preparation of project scoping documents, basis of estimate /schedule, strategy, and risk documents
• Ensure scope and current strategies are appropriately represented in the project schedule
• Ensure schedules are compliant appropriate practices, procedures, and project/functional requirements
• Develop the Earned Value (EV) system and measure performance against EV
• Assist with the preparation of contract documents for bid packages for Project Controls including specifications, milestones, and budgets
Planning / Scheduling
• Develop additional activities and logic sequences to expand project life cycle schedules
• Develop design and production schedules
• Assist with the planning of project phasing
• Integrate and monitor supplier and subcontractor schedules
• Integrate activities across subproject schedules, studios, and project phases
• Develop project codes, WBS codes, and resources for project activities
• Plan and analyze project resource requirements including staffing, progress, and commodity installation over time
• Develop design tracking reports for drawings, materials, animation, and media
• Assist with the implementation of the integrated input matrix
• Conduct planning and coordination meetings
• Understand project workflows, design inputs and outputs, and project sequencing relationships
Estimating / Cost Control
• Perform drawing quantity take offs and estimate unit rates using historical and standard rates
• Develop basic estimate for non-complex facilitates, show, ride, area development, and project changes
• Participate in estimating and settlement of project change orders
• Ensure alignment of project scope with budget and validates project changes
• Develop total EFC with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors for non-complex or medium sized projects
• Assist with "what-if" cost estimates and analysis
• Use historical and trend data to validate estimates
• Estimate schedule extension / acceleration, mitigation, and opportunity costs
• Participate in the identification and assessment of project risk and contingency determinations
• Participate in the development of cost control tools and reports, updates with current data, quality checks, and identifies reasons for variances
• Develop contingency drawdown plan
• Manages the integrated cost control system such as PMCS
Basic Qualifications• Understanding of Work Breakdown Structure principles and applications
• Quality checking
• Meeting leadership, facilitation, basic conflict resolution, and alignment
• Good communication, collaboration, technical writing, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of design, manufacturing, and/or construction
• Understands the relationship between scope, cost, and schedule and implications of impact on to the other
• Understanding of baseline plans and change management
• Understanding of earned value and related analysis
• Knowledge of themed entertainment and Disney preferred
Planning / Scheduling
• Minimum two years CPM scheduling experience
• Thorough understanding of CPM scheduling including logic relationships and constraints, resource planning and leveling, reporting, and float and variance analysis
• Highly proficient with Primavera Project Planner (enterprise or web version)
Estimating / Cost Control
• Minimum two years cost control with estimating experience
• Reads and interprets design drawings to perform quantity take-offs
• Able to utilize Means, historical estimating standard rate sources, trend or commitment analysis, or productivity analysis to develop complete cost estimates
• Basic negotiation skills
• Minimum two years in engineering/manufacturing/construction (non-residential) or four years major theatrical production experience
• Themed entertainment experience preferred
• Courses of study in engineering, architecture, production, planning, or construction or equivalent working experience in these fields. Introductory knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, earned value, or cost control and estimating. Other general business acumen skills include: technical communications, presentation, general understanding of business drivers, and relationship between scope, schedule, and cost.
• Self-starter for routine tasks. Requires direct supervisory oversight for analytical tasks, prioritization of work, published work products, problem solving, time planning, and technical skill development. Requires guidance on how to approach new work.

• Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Well organized self-starter
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic knowledge of design, manufacturing, and/or construction
• Desirable to have basic working knowledge of graphics programs for presentations and visual plans
• Desirable to have basic understanding of BIM
• Basic understanding of earned value
Planning / Scheduling
• Basic understanding of CPM scheduling including logic relationships and float analysis
• Highly desirable to have working knowledge of Primavera Project Planner (enterprise or web version)
Estimating / Cost Control
• Reads basic design drawing to perform quantity take-offs
• Understands basic cost principles such as budgeting, scope, estimate at completion
Required Education
  • 4 year undergraduate degree, preferably in a technical field such as engineering, architecture, construction management, or equivalent work experience in applicable planning or estimating
