This Melbourne-based role is within the WDI Communications team, which delivers all external and internal Communications across the various Disney businesses in ANZ.
This broad and dynamic role encompasses consumer PR for the Disney Consumer Products (DCP) division, Corporate Communications and Internal Communications for ANZ, reporting into the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, ANZ.
  • 12 month Fixed Term Contract
ResponsibilitiesAs a Communications Executive you will be responsible for:
DCP PR
  • Lead PR strategy development, in line with Retail Marketing strategies, to raise awareness for new DCP releases
  • Execute PR campaigns for DCP, including media release development and distribution, product seeding and any influencer engagement
  • Manage Disney’s social media influencer relations for DCP initiatives
  • Work closely with the Retail Marketing team to support product releases and initiatives which require PR support
Internal Communications
  • Drive development of localised internal Communications site for ANZ, One Voice – and source/create dynamic content and imagery for site (“news” carousel to be updated at least three times per week)
  • Deliver inspiring and engaging Communications to the ANZ business through key platforms such as One Voice and the re-introduction of activities such as “lunch and learns”, outside speaker series, etc.
  • Oversee the development and rollout of internal Communications programs working with key stakeholders (e.g. the wider Communications team, HR,) to support key business initiatives (e.g. franchise activity, key launches/releases, CSR, etc.)
  • Liaise with other TWDC internal Communications teams globally to develop plans and share assets as appropriate
  • Support Senior Manager, Corporate Communications by establishing structure and processes around gathering and sharing information internally
Corporate Communications
  • Support Senior Manager, Corporate Communications by continuously evaluating key issues, messages and topics for the senior management team and build/maintain a database of briefing documents
  • Develop and share core messaging for TWDC ANZ and ensure consistency of messaging across all divisions. Build and maintain an updated library of key messaging on important topics.
  • Help manage the ANZ speakers’ bureau including assessing potential opportunities and proactively identifying conferences for senior executives to articulate key messages. Assist with speeches/presentations as appropriate.
  • Help manage local Communications issues, working closely with Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and key stakeholders such as Legal and Human Resources
  • Support and drive communications around Corporate Citizenship activities, including Magic of Healthy Living and Big Brothers Big Sisters partnership.

Media Engagement and Reputation Management
  • Help execute the corporate media relations program (e.g. briefings, media round tables, screening invites, etc.) and build/maintain strong relationships with key trade reporters
  • Support Senior Manager, Corporate Communications by electively engaging with media and stakeholders to ensure widespread understanding of TWDC’s key growth strategies, and focusing on what sets TWDC and TWDC ANZ apart from other entertainment companies (the Disney Difference) – as well as building the profile of TWDC’s businesses in ANZ and positioning it as a local company (as appropriate)
  • Develop Corporate stories as appropriate by leveraging Disney’s businesses activities, working with the wider Communications team (e.g. franchise activity, product launches, key successes, CSR, etc), identifying corporate themes and selling in stories to the media
  • Support Senior Manager, Corporate Communications with crisis and issues management, as required (including consumer complaints that are elevated).
Basic QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum 3+ years’ relevant work experience in entertainment or related field
  • In-house or agency PR experience – media/entertainment experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely organised, process-orientated and results-driven
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to persuasively communicate at all levels with internal stakeholders, media and other parties
  • Ability to work under pressure and be flexible to changing deadlines and timelines
  • Ability to set clear goals and manage multiple assignments
  • Must be diplomatic, professional and able to handle confidential information
  • Proven ability to self-direct and drive projects from start to finish
