About the job

The Manager is to lead both primary (customized) and secondary (desk) research projects and provide market trends and insights into consumer behavior across a wide range of areas, from general lifestyle to spending to digital media consumption, with an aim of helping the company and its various lines of business achieve their business objectives and better position themselves among target consumers in Greater China.












#LI-LIC Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct consumer and desk research to provide internal and external research users with emerging consumer trends and insights, particularly in the digital area, proactively
  • Manage all phases of research, with the following day-to-day responsibilities:
    • Develop project plans and brief research agencies
    • Monitor fieldwork and provide progress updates
    • Review deliverables (including questionnaires / discussion guides and reports) from research agencies and work closely with them to make sure all deliverables meet the project objectives and requirements
  • Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative research findings and provide insightful reports and presentations with compelling “stories” and points of view (as opposed to just data and information) to inform business decisions
  • Present research findings to executive teams and be able to explain the implications for our business as and when required
  • Work closely with the global research team on global research projects and provide on-the-group support in project implementation
  • Identify and train research agencies which are truly insights driven and capable of adapting themselves to the “storytelling” / insight delivery approach of Disney in China
  • Collect secondary data from various sources to support business and strategy planning as and when required
Basic Qualifications Experience:
  • More than 5 years of solid quantitative research experience gained from research agencies and/or client companies
  • Comprehensive experience in market research project management, including questionnaire/discussion guide design, sampling, and fieldwork and agency management
  • Experience in presenting research results to senior executives in English
  • Experience in conducting/facilitating strategy development workshops for senior executives (helpful but not a must)

Knowledge:
  • Good knowledge of different quantitative methodologies and statistical tools (e.g. regression, conjoint, and price sensitivity measurement (PSM))
  • Good understanding of the media / entertainment industry (useful but not a must)
  • Exposure to children’s products and/or children’s consumer behavior (useful but not a must)

Core Skills:
  • Ability to design and execute quantitative research projects independently from start to finish
  • Interest in and potential to learn qualitative research
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills to identify and communicate business implications to top management
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of how to turn research data into succinct and strategic intelligence
  • Good understanding of strategies vs tactics
  • Excellent written and spoken English (native like)
  • Fluent Mandarin
  • Outstanding communicative expertise at all levels

  • At least a bachelor degree in Business Management, Marketing, Psychology, Advertising, Communications, Social Science, or Statistics
