As a Systems Technical Specialist on our WDW Design & Engineering team, you will play a critical role in maintaining the security, reliability, and operational excellence for which The Walt Disney Company is known worldwide.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and review wireless system designs for attraction, show, and automation systems
  • Integrate industrial wireless networks with existing and new wired networks
  • Generate system requirements documents
  • Troubleshoot COTS and custom wireless systems including their interactions with wired systems
  • Troubleshoot RF interference incidents
  • Assist with FCC licensing for new systems
  • Stay up to date with a fast paced regulatory environment
  • Commission and test new operational technology wireless systems
  • Document wireless system installation details and configurations
  • Conduct technical and operational training on new and existing systems
  • Ensure that systems meet corporate and departmental configuration standards
  • Maintain and foster open and ongoing communication with other Disney departments, both technical and non-technical groups
  • Act as a technical liaison with multiple system vendors and assist with integration into the complete system

Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends on an as needed basis
  • Experience with systems level troubleshooting of automation systems including wired and wireless networks
  • Proven understanding of the basics of wireless systems design and implementation
  • Experience in all aspects of systems integration including test and adjust
  • Proven knowledge of multiple wireless protocols including 802.11, WiMAX, 802.15.4, LoRa, WDMX, DECT, Bluetooth
  • Basic knowledge of wired networking
  • Knowledge of basic spectrum analysis
  • Experience with RF coaxial cable testing, termination, and specification
  • Ability to assist in the writing of technical documents such as Theory of Operations, Acceptance Test Procedures and Requirements Specifications
  • Knowledge and familiarity with FCC rules and requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communications with all project partners, both technical and non-technical
  • Experience with project scheduling and estimating
  • Experience with hardware design, engineering, installation and commissioning
  • Proven ability to generate and read network diagrams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with field support of client owned systems
  • Proven understanding of low level communication technologies/protocols: TCP/IP, CAN, serial, etc..
  • Knowledge of entertainment control protocols DMX, Art-Net, streaming ACN, QLAN MA-Net, etc..
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting frequency hopping systems
  • Experience with radio direction finding
  • Experience with the integration of mechanical and electronic/electrical systems
  • Experience with frequency coordination for live venues
  • Experience with RF propagation modeling and estimation
  • Experience with real time operating systems QNX, Wind River, RTLinux, etc.
  • Experience with PLC based system controls
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills (voltmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
Required Education
  • Four-year technical degree relative to electronic or RF systems
Preferred Education
  • Science (Physics, Computer Science)
  • Computer Science Coursework highly preferred
  • Engineering Coursework highly preferred
