So, what will I actually be doing? An operations manager has a broad role, and the specific responsibilities will vary between different companies, but generally it includes monitoring and analysing the current system of production or provision to check it’s effective, and working out a strategy for improving if necessary. By managing day-to-day activities, analysing statistics and reading and writing reports, operations managers play a vital role in any company. Operations managers also have to do a lot of liaising with other team members, including interacting with managers of different areas of the organization, presenting findings to stakeholders and higher management as well as training and supervising new employees and tracking and measuring staff performance. Other duties and responsibilities include: Planning and controlling change. Managing quality assurance programmes. Researching new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency. Setting and reviewing budgets and managing cost. Overseeing inventory, distribution of goods and facility layout. With plenty to be getting on with, your main responsibilities include: Development, production and delivery of projects from proposal right up to delivery. Delivering events on time, within budget, that meet (and hopefully exceed)expectations. Setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and priorities on every project Communicating, maintaining and developing client relationships Managing supplier relationships Managing operational and administrative functions to ensure specific projects are delivered efficiently Providing leadership, motivation, direction and support to your team Travelling to on site inspections and project managing events Being responsible for all project budgets from start to finish.
