About me
I was born in Nicaragua. As the son of a Swiss father and a Nicaraguan mother, i spent my childhood in that marvelous country. I grew up n a lively environment, surrounded by plenty of cousins, aunts, uncles and neighbors, as it is typical in Central America.
When I was 11, my parents decided to move to Switzerland due to the magnificent education and standards of living provided by my father's nation of origin.
Thanks to my young age, i had no problems in adapting to the new language and to the way of life in Switzerland. It was for me a wonderful new experience to meet new people, a new culture and specially the European part of my family.
I got through School, learned the German language fast and could assimilate rapidly thanks to my open mind and interest in my new home. With 17 years, I started studying Economics and graduated successfully three years later.
After working a year and absolving my mandatory military service, i wanted to change my field of studies. I started studying architecture but realized soon that this faculty did not cover my interests and that in that area I could not unfold my strengths, like my social, communication and language skills or interest in interacting with people. I decided to change my profession once again.
I always had an interest in working in the gastronomy. That field consistently had its spell on me.
I was fascinated by the charm of servers: how they can smile all day and make your evening a pleasure.
Further by the receptionists at the check in at a hotel. The way they seem to know everything about a city and how they are able to provide all you need in an incredibly short amount of time.
I wondered how a cook could conjure an awesome 4-meal course, not just for me but for a whole restaurant.
It was for me a mystery how a General Manager was able to be everywhere: he greeted you, when you entered the room but as the same time he was somewhere else instructing his employees or chatting with arriving guests.
I decided I wanted to be part of this world of gastronomy and hostelry. The Swiss hospitality Management School of Lucerne is a school that teaches exactly these things. You learn to be a successful restaurateur/ hotelier but most important you learn to become a manager.
I subscribed for the school and after a mandatory internship in the gastronomy before starting the school I was allowed to attend the school. Ever since I am a student of the "SHL - Schweizer Hotelfachschule Luzern" (Swiss hospitality Management School of Lucerne).
