I started in the hospitality area by luck, a simple part-time job every weekend evenings in a local bar of my beloved hometown (Porto) to earn money to pay the university fees (I was studying Environmental Health back then at the Escola Superior de Tecnologias da Saúde do Porto) . What began as a simple need for money, soon became a passion; the contact with the customers, giving a service of quality, exceeding the clients’ expectations…we are the aristocrats of the working class! A passion so deep that made me change my educational path; I decided, then, to apply for the Hotel Management – Food & Beverage – course at Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Porto, which was crowned with success after I passed the written exams and an interview.

After finishing as the best of my class (I even received the “Rui Santos” award by Rotary Clube Porto-Oeste), I have decided to gain more work experience abroad in order to practice/learn foreign languages as well as develop my social and professional skills in a new multicultural work environment.

After completed one and an half year in Tenerife, working in both 4 and 5 star luxury hotels (H10 Costa Adeje Palace and Hotel Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora by this same order), I realized that I should raise my ambitions and seek for opportunities that truly suit me best. Due to that, I moved to Belgium to embrace a new challenge and I worked at the Hotel Dolce La Hulpe Brussels for 9 months. It was an amazing and enriching experience!

Once again, I decided to take the risk and leave my comfort zone; I came back to Tenerife, back to the Hotel Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora; Work with the best and learning from them has always been my priority as it will surely give me the specific knowledge I need to aspire to a higher management position.

Nowadays, I know what future I wish to pursuit and which steps I have to climb to achieve it. At this moment, I believe that I have a good work experience and that the practical knowledge I have acquired is immeasurable. I know that with hard work and perseverance I can aspire to a higher position in an organizational chart.
