I am student at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality management perusing a career in the hospitality industry. Before joining the academy I got some work exposure in Jumeirah Hotel & resorts and even I did my internship for Jumeirah Hotel & Resorts which was opening of their new hotel in Dubai. Also done part-time jobs with 5-star catering companies in the U.A.E. which gave me exposure in the events & catering side of Hospitality. I have always been in 5-star environment and that has got a big change in me.

    After joining the team, my first role is to help with the training and setting up of all Standard Operating Procedures. I am also helping develop the Induction and HR handbooks as well as the training workbook for the employees. I am also asked to look for different ways to improve communication in the restaurant using different apps available. I organized all the HR filing methods as required by the management and looked for housing solutions for new joiners.

    My role is to help assist the guest with any inquiries about the hotel and assist the front office manager with carrying out tasks such as purchasing for the department during the hotels pre-opening phase. In operation, I assisted the guests with making bookings in the hotel, checkins, checkouts and providing information about the city. From the hotel perspective I would take care of the billing and making sure everything is in order and update guest profiles. I would also assist my duty manager with the night audit by checking the rate codes, tallying the credit card transactions, cross checking with other departments with POS posting, charging all the VCC's and making a summary of the night audit and any issues that arrised during the day that need to be taken care of. I would also prepare for the next shift coming in to make sure everything goes smooth throughout the day. I also helped the hotel hire interns for the department as I was a fresh graduate when I joinned the hotel.
