I’m Ricardo, a 25 year old Portuguese, previously working at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge as a Team Leader for the Breakfast Department.
My interest in this vacancy occurs because my medium-term goal is to become a Food and Beverage Director and want to find a place to develop myself. So this definitely is a good opportunity to get closer to learn what is demanded for reaching that position. My main concern professionally is the dedication to provide quality service and products so I think it would be very interesting for me to be part of your team.
A Management position doesn’t figure in my still short career but I’m a really motivated individual and had many relevant placements within the Industry including a Food & Beverage Management internship at a 4* Hotel in Madrid. Always trying to keep up with what’s going on at the Hospitality Sector and follow the trends providing work colleagues with new and insightful ideas as well as work conditions because a satisfied employee makes customers happy.
I’m a calm and focused individual, observant and with attention to detail, been exposed to most of the office duties that the Departments at Park Plaza have from Payroll to Rotas, File Notes to Investigations and Grievances. The breakfast department at Westminster Bridge has a crazy rhythm and in these months I can say I learned and developed a lot my abilities as well as learning new ones. Office job was always my strong suit and rapidly got used to Micros and Opera even developing myself some tools for the Department as the Upselling Initiative for team members and a Matrix for analysing customer comments so it’s easy to review at the end of each month, both using Excel. We’ve managed as a team to reunite the team, making them diligent towards the company, bring up customer feedback/scores on diverse platforms and drastically reduce the number of complaints as we were bringing down the payroll as much as 30%.
This position would be suitable for me as I’m an avid learner, easily adapt to different and challenging environments and with the capability to look at situations from various perspectives and being impartial and pragmatic dealing with it. I love this industry because of the direct impact we can make in someone’s life through nutrition, leisure, accommodation, pleasure… The contact with the guest makes every day unique.
