Sport Hotels has had a unique evolution: the group didn’t start as a hotel. In fact, the company was first created in the 1970’s simply to provide ski services. However, when Josep Areny visited other resorts around Europe, he saw the potential for Andorra as a proper ski destination and decided to take elements from the best properties in order to create a luxury destination nestled in the mountains between France and Spain.

From ski rental to apartments to a full-blown resort, Sport Hotels has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Today, the group has three properties at the foot of the Grandvalira slopes, including the 5* Sport Hotel Hermitage, which boasts a wellness spa and is part of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Next season, they will add to their portfolio by opening new luxury rental apartments, which will offer the same amenities as Sport Hotel Hermitage. Josep knows that often times, it’s the non-skiers who influence the booking decision, so Sport Hotels continues to focus on the full offering of its products, ensuring both skiers and non-skiers will have a luxurious and enjoyable stay.
