The Community Manager – Lucasfilm Games will partner with the Senior Manager, Performance Marketing to develop, manage and execute the community engagement, social media and content strategy and calendar for the Lucasfilm Games product portfolio. This multi-disciplinary individual is responsible for cultivating a strong, authentic community, through engagement on blogs, forums, internal community channels, and other social media channels. The Community Manager will ensure consistency of voice and ongoing engagement in experiences.
The Community Manager position for Lucasfilm Games is responsible for three critical areas:
  • Community and Social Media strategy, content, and calendar development and execution
  • Editorial and content creation and consistency in the form of blog posts, in-product communication, social media content, newsletters, videos, and more
  • Strong collaboration and communication with internal and external teams including Disney partners, Franchise Partners, Global Teams, and Product Development Teams to ensure community, social media, and content plans are properly positioned and executed
  • The Community Manager, under the direction of the Senior Manager, Performance Marketing, will develop strategies and plans that result in driving business metrics including engagement, monetization, and retention. This individual must demonstrate the ability to flex their communication and approach to be effective in supporting global initiatives.
    The ideal candidate will be a hard-working, creative, and organized Community Manager who is passionate about social media, gaming, Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel with experience managing game communities, ideally for mid-core or core game titles.
    The Community Manager works closely and frequently with internal teams including Marketing, Production, Finance, Synergy Marketing, PR, internal Disney partners, Franchise Partners, Global Teams, and Business Intelligence. To be successful, this person must be a self-starter, thrive in a fast paced environment and be resourceful, creative, analytical, detail oriented and capable of driving multiple projects. Effective and efficient communication via phone, video teleconference and email is a requirement since day-to-day contacts are in remote offices across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America, Russia, Asia Pacific, and Australia markets Responsibilities
    • Work closely with Senior Manager, Performance Marketing and game development studios to ensure goals and priorities are aligned
    • Develop and execute the Community and Social Media Strategy for Lucasfilm Games
    • Manage communication and content strategy and calendar to drive engagement, conversion, and retention
    • Partner closely with Product Team to develop in-product messaging and editorial as well as provide direction on guest experience
    • Define, manage, and maintain the editorial voice of the product and community to ensure consistency of communication and experience
    • Defines, writes, creates, and posts community content for community platform and social media channels including editorial, art, and videos
    • Liaise with internal Disney partners to define, develop and deliver synergy and brand messages and content
    • Build strong relationships with Franchise Partners through close collaboration and transparency
    • Nurture relationships with external partners (i.e. YouTube Influencers, community networks, etc.) to drive engagement with our brands
    • Influence and guide Global Teams in the development of community strategy and content plans and calendars
    • In partnership with Product Team, define process for managing community content and communication
    • Curates community feedback and facilitates conversation on community platforms as well as shares ongoing information with Product Teams
    • Extremely knowledgeable of competing products and competitive marketing trends
    • Advise and communicate trends in social media communities and keep up-to-date on the latest trends in the market
    • Attend product planning meetings and report to internal stakeholders as required
    • As directed by the business, travels domestically and internationally
    • Works effectively and efficiently with key contacts in remote offices
    • Coordinate translation requests and meet with Translators routinely to incorporate feedback into the community platform planning
    Basic Qualifications
    • 3+ years of community management and/or social media experience
    • Experience and familiarity with mid-core and core mobile games (e.g. shooters, CCG, strategy, RPG, MOBA, etc.)
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proven ability to create alignment, value and trust with teams and partners
    • Composed, poised, and professional demeanor
    • Solid presentation skills with the ability to present to a breadth of audiences including executives
    • Tenacious and has a sense or urgency; ability to make things happen quickly
    • Effective written and verbal communicator
    • Multi-disciplinary; able to wear multiple discipline ‘hats’
    • Able to discern appropriate responses depending on channel and situation
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Advanced knowledge of online community platforms and their functions
    • Adaptable and able to pick up new tools quickly
    • Works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
    • Able to produce content quickly as required
    • Collaborative approach to development
    • Collaborates with stakeholders for maximum effectiveness
    • Clear communicator of tactics, trends, escalations and recommendations
    • Globally-minded – considerate of international perspectives and cultural differences
    • Proven critical thinking skills
    • Proven grasp of syntax and proficiency in copyediting
    • Proven ability to manage projects and effectively report progress and status as needed
    • Persuasive copywriting abilities
    • Experience with wikis and blog content management systems required
    • Experience with social media tools such as blogs, forums, social media, YouTube, micro-blogging a must
