Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club located in Irving, Texas is a 440 acre property which consists of two 18 hole golf courses, TPC Four Seasons and Cottonwood Valley, a large practice facility, as well as a world class hotel and club. The golf courses consist of L93/Crenshaw and LS44/96-2 Bentgrass greens and Tifway Bermuda grass tees, fairways, and rough.

The Manager in Training (MIT) will report directly to the golf course superintendent while communicating with staff and other resort departments.  Under the superintendent’s supervision the MIT will participate and implement maintenance practices including fertility planning and application, pesticide planning and application, and water management and various golf course maintenance tasks and projects. The MIT will also be responsible to supervise and manage the maintenance staff while performing related work as required. The MIT may serve in the assistant superintendent’s capacity during his absence. The MIT will need to be ready to learn the operations and nuances of the property while looking for areas to make improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways; schedules work; and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment.
  • Assist in application of fertilizers and pesticides on the courses as needed
  • Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment; and supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
  • Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and personnel discipline.
  • Assist with Irrigation operation and analysis of total irrigation system function.
  • Consult and work with the entire golf operations team to achieve the highest results possible for membership and resort satisfaction
  • Assist in local, state, and federal compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Assist in maintaining industry certifications (Audubon International, Groundwater Guardian, Integrated Pest Management, Texas Water Best Management Practices)


Job Requirements:

  • 2 or 4 year degree in agronomy or similar science with an emphasis in turfgrass management preferred
  • minimum 2 years prior experience in the golf course maintenance industry
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time. Able to lift up to 80 lbs, bending, twisting, walking.
  • Ability to uphold a safe and respectful work environment for self and others.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to work Monday- Friday and weekend and holiday rotations as required
  • Able to perform heavy physical labor outside in all types of weather.
  • Current pesticide applicator certificate/ license or the ability to obtain one within the first year
