The Position/Role:

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for securing and servicing ‘Catering’ Business from the Social and Corporate Wedding Market, through active and effective promotion, solicitation, and prospecting, while maintaining FS standards and maximizing revenue/profit potential. This position is not a remote position. The Catering Sales Manager is expected to be on-site.

You will report directly to the Director of Catering and Conference Services. You will coordinate all requirements for various Social/Wedding groups booked and working closely with Wedding planners and immediate decision makers. You will also secure and service Catering Business from the Social and Wedding Markets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively solicit new business and respond to inquiries with the intention of confirming profitable corporate catering events business and achieving Quarterly Sales Goals. Maintain an active trace/follow-up system on all inquiries, personal sales calls, site visits and client entertainment.

  • Assist in developing and executing projects for assigned market areas to increase catering activity, volume and profit.

  • Conduct property tours and entertain planners of, social and Wedding events.

  • Plan, lead and/or attend and/or participate in meetings with hotel staff and clients, including but not exclusive to: Morning Operations Briefing, Morning CS Briefing, Weekly Resume Meeting, Banquet Event Order Meeting, Weekly Sales Meeting, Pre-Convention Meetings, Bi-Monthly Board of Operations, Menu Tastings, and Planning Visits.

  • Finalize the requirements of confirmed bookings while maximizing revenue potential through up selling and ensuring effective communication both written (Resumes, BEO, Daily Reports) and personal contact/communication with all departments for the success of the event. Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks and provide bill review on completion of program or event. Prepare a monthly booking report. Ensure all deposits are prepaid and finalized prior to event.

  • Keep Director of Catering promptly and fully informed of all matters so prompt corrective action can be taken where appropriate.

  • Maintain healthy and active pipeline. Accuracies in food & beverage forecasting and logging updates/changes on every piece of business.

  • Contract and manage Social/Wedding room blocks and Social Wedding Resumes.

  • Supervise the execution of banquet events. Review all function space with banquet manager and when required head house attendant. Ensure satisfaction of client at the outset of all events.

  • Respond according to the crisis management plan to any resort emergency or safety situation.

  • Assist with all guest inquires within the Sales, Marketing and Conference Services Department, including assistance walk-in site inspections and back up phone coverage.

  • Be fully versed in the facilities and capabilities of the hotels competitive set. Maintain a visible presence in the community through involvement with Industry associations.



Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree is strongly preferred

  • 3-5 years previous catering sales and/or banquet assistant manager/captain experience

  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language

  • Strong selling and interpersonal skills

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • High level of creativity

  • Attention to detail and strong business acumen

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast paced client driven environment

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, weekends and evenings

  • Golden Sales and Catering Computer Software, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Opera, and ability to use e-mail and the Internet
