Job Summary

You will be an integral part of the Food & Beverage Team looking after our Guests - both internal and external. This will involve catering for Food & Beverage needs, whether it is in the restaurant, bar, In Room Dining or Hilton meetings, creating a relaxed, friendly and fun environment.

Our unique location offers our guests two hotels from the Hilton brand to choose from: Hilton Queenstown Resort and Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton Queenstown and all of our Team Members get to work across both brands



WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
The Conference & Events Operations Manager is responsible for the day to day delivery of all Conference & Events (C&E) and In Room Dining (IRD) operation.  Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager, and working closely with all departments, you will lead your team in the effective, professional and timely delivery of all catering operations. More specifically you will:

  • Manage the overall day to day operation of C&E and IRD including, staff, sales and costs

  • Provide leadership and direction to the relevant department supervisors providing functional assistance and direction to the operation

  • Manage, co-ordinate and direct the prompt, efficient and courteous service provided by the team

  • Develop and maintain training plans, performance assessment and any disciplinary activities as required

  • Ensure a positive impact on the Guest experience, taking personal responsibility and initiative to resolve any possible issues

  • Assist all other Food & Beverage outlets as required through a hands on approach

  • Be responsible for the roster including forecasting, payroll control and analysis of results

  • Attend client meetings such as an event Pre or Post Con meeting


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a catering role, preferable within a 5 star hotel or similar environment
  • Experience in conference room and basic audio-visual set up
  • Experience leading and motivating Team Members
  • Commitment to delivering an exceptional Guest experience
  • Demonstrate ability to resolve problems and conflict, and work efficiently under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exhibit exemplary personal appearance and attitude, maintain highest standards of hygiene and quality assurance practices
  • Knowledge of food and wine paring an advantage
  • A degree or diploma in Hospitality, Hotel Management an advantage
