Strategic Intent
The incumbent is responsible to develop and execute a digital media marketing strategy that increases positive engagement with Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group across all channels with the purpose of increasing revenues from the Hotel’s various businesses.
Scope of Position
The Director of Digital Communications is responsible for, but not limited to, content creation and distribution of messaging for the overall the Hotel’s, Food & Beverage outlets, Rooms, and Spa’s marketing content creation and distribution of it into social media channels, MO.com, third party listings, and digital advertising. Aligns with the Director of Communications with all matters relating to media and public relations and other marketing communications for the hotel. Coordinates the fulfilment of the Hotel’s Marketing Plan with the Regional Director of Digital Marketing. A strong focus on social media is required.
Organizational Structure
The Director of Digital Communications will report directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing Communications in parallel with the Director of Communications.

Duties and Supporting Responsibilities
- Design and execute a digital communications plan for all appropriate guest- and public-facing channels that assists in the fulfilment of the Hotel’s marketing and business plans.
- Direct and shoot content with an elevated aesthetic.
- Create and tell the story of Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC to Fans by ensuring all digital channels are up to date with compelling content to include social media, website, online, and customer relationship management.
- Drive increased engagement of social media channels, especially Instagram and Facebook through development of posts, visuals, messaging, and calendar management while ensuring the application of best practices as recommended by MOHG.
- Coordinate all social media pages and networking sites for the hotel – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and internal channels. Proactively respond to tweets and posts and use creative images with strong, attention getting copy. Work with various departments to obtain news and offerings hand in hand with the Director of Communications.
- Develop local email broadcasts for the Spa and restaurants/bar sharing news and events to local database.
- Manages and maintains the Hotel’s website with new promotions, menus, Spa treatments, events, and additional guest facing information.
- Assists in producing marketing materials for print and online use.
- Assist in managing digital advertising budgets to ensure campaigns are executed on-time, within budget, and achieving objectives.
- Coordinate billing, bidding, and purchase orders associated with Digital Marketing and Social Media marketing.
- Assist with the development of electronic database marketing communications.
- Evaluate and recommend engagement strategies with emerging business-to-consumer and business-to-business media platforms (e.g., YouTube, Clubhouse, Snap Chat, Tik Tok) for local utilization.
- Ensure the Regional Director of Digital Marketing is aligned with property strategy in pay-per-click search campaigns and other paid digital channels.
- Strategize and write SEO focused website content to strengthen the Hotel’s organic positioning in the destination of Washington, D.C.
- Ensure filing systems and photographic libraries are maintained in good order.

Mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Marketing or a related field.
- Prior experience with the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, Teams, Social Media platforms, Video Production, Editing tools, and Design is required.
- Fluency in English with excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple social media channels successfully with the express intention of commercial consumer engagement.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet all business objectives is required.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in analytics platforms and tools.
- Proficient in Adobe Analytics Experience with tag managers/CDPs like Adobe Tag Manager.
- Proficient in Facebook Ads Manager with an understanding of the Facebook Ads platform (targeting, bidding, optimizations, etc.).
Desirable
- Two years or greater in a hospitality marketing role.
- Prior experience in luxury hospitality, travel, or branding.
- Experience with Hootsuite or similar social media dashboard format.
- A background competency in graphic design or the visual arts.
