Job Summary

The Financial Reporting and Analysis (FR&A) department is responsible for providing financial reporting governance by establishing policies, processes and tools that minimize risk and maximize value to the enterprise. The team focuses on delivering accurate, timely and insightful management and regulatory reporting to Marriott’s internal and external stakeholders.The group also leads the design, development, and delivery of high quality financial reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet & Cash Flow at the business and enterprise level in compliance with both internal and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Manager will report directly to the Manager, Full Service and be an integral
member of the Financial Reporting and Analysis team. This highly motivated individual will be responsible for Full Service Segment balance sheet and cash flow reporting and analysis. In addition, this position will report and consolidate the company’s Other Corporate P&L within the Corporate Segment, and have a wide range of responsibilities supporting several key systems reporting & accounting functions and analytical activities. This person will be involved in special projects and must be able to manage multiple tasks at a time.
The Assistant Manager will engage with stakeholders including Americas finance, various Global Finance departments, and other internal and external stakeholders. The Assistant Manager must be able to identify opportunities and process improvements, anticipate challenges, and execute strategies to deliver excellence in Financial Reporting and Analysis.

SCOPE/BUSINESS CONTEXT/EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Prepare balance sheet reports for the Full Service segment in order to assist with the consolidation of the Company’s balance sheet, including performing quarterly analytical analysis, identifying key trends and highlighting critical variances and exposures. Ensure balance sheets are properly stated in accordance with GAAP.
Liaison with various departments in overseeing the Full Service balance sheet. Ensure that the balance sheet is accurate and properly reflects accounts and transactions/activity in appropriate captions. This includes working closely with process owners to understand and document current processes and activity, and working to develop process improvements related to financial reporting.
Analyze cash flow activity and prepare quarterly cash flow reports for Full Service brands in order to assist with the consolidation of the Company’s cash flow statement. Ensure activity is properly presented in accordance with GAAP.
Report and analyze the monthly and quarterly reporting of operating results and forecast for Other Corporate P&L. Provide pro-active interpretation of financial results and perform follow-up inquiries/research, as appropriate. Complete comparisons to prior forecast, prior guidance and prior year for each month, quarter and year to date/full year. Maintain a list of risk and opportunities as they relate to Other Corporate.
Prepare the annual budget and quarterly forecasts for the Full Service Segment cash flow and incorporate the most current information on development transactions. Assist in identifying key risks and opportunities and developing appropriate reporting for senior management.
Prepare the annual business plan and budget process for Other Corporate P&L. Assist in developing reports and analytics ensuring the key variances are reasonable based on underlying business drivers and unusual activity is explained. Marriott International Assistant Manager –Full Service & Other Corporate Reporting & Analysis Financial Reporting and Analysis
Participate in the annual audit process. Prepare all interim and year-end balance sheet related PBCs for Full Service segment balance sheet and Other Corporate P&L.
Prepare and reconcile quarterly MIP-66 (Marriott International Policy – account
reconciliation/certification process) account activity. Ensure that balance sheet accounts are reconciled in accordance with MIP-66, balances are accurately stated, and major variances are explained.
Assist in the financial reporting and transaction processes for property acquisitions and dispositions. Engage in discussions on other significant financial transactions to ensure they are accurately reported.
Assist with systems and reporting maintenance for Full Service and Other Corporate. Facilitate systems requests received from America’s region and hotel finance teams, Accenture Hospitality Services, and various Global Finance departments
Assist with the integration of Starwood brands into existing reporting and processes.
Participate in ongoing efforts to fully leverage our systems including EPM, Hyperion Essbase, and Hyperion Financial Management
Perform special balance sheet, cash flow and financial analysis projects as directed by the Director and Manager, Financial Reporting and Analysis or another member of the management team.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience
  • Four or more years of progressive job experience in accounting.
  • Experience in Marriott Lodging or other MI business preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Access, with strong focus on spreadsheet applications (Excel).
  • Peoplesoft (MIGL/EPM), SmartView and Hyperion Financial Reporting experience preferred.
Educational Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
