JOB SUMMARY

Members of the Operations Support Resources team will be deployed to temporary assignments of varying durations (based on specific hotel needs) as directed by CLS Leadership. This job is designed to "fill the gaps" in the operations of our hotels as identified by leadership.


This job could require members of the team to travel extensively; however, relocation is not expected. The time in position requirement will follow the standard company policies. Performance will be evaluated after each assignment via an appraisal from the General Manager/Department Head of the hotel where the assignment occurred. This position is responsible for providing tactical support to stakeholders by providing Group Strategy and Senior Revenue Management support for hotels and in Marriott systems, such as High Performance Pricing, MARSHA, CI/TY, One Yield, etc.


This position leads business evaluation activities and staff in a given cluster.  Position has overall responsibility for communicating group strategy and evaluating all group sales opportunities in partnership with the Sales Manager handling the opportunity.  After total customer and opportunity consideration, determines the optimal pricing options or alternate date/property options for each lead.  Facilitates the evaluation process with the inclusion of customer intelligence as provided by the Sales Manager.  Leads inventory management and analysis activities and staff in a given market. The position may have primary leadership responsibilities for a sub-set of hotels within the market and will partner with stakeholders on setting sales and revenue strategies. Position has overall responsibility for managing rooms and space inventory and ensures inventory is allocated and restricted properly to maximize revenue and profits. Position prepares forecasts, budgets, weekly and daily projections and analyzes the progress of each. Position critiques sales strategy effectiveness and prepares historical and future analysis of revenue and profit opportunities Serves as a demand expert for the cluster team members, GMs, and regional stakeholders.

Executing Strategy

  • Responds to leads from Sales.
  • Conducts business evaluation for sales leaders on group leads
  • Provides targeted and timely communication of results, achievements and challenges to the stakeholders.
  • Communicates brand initiatives, demand and market analysis to hotels/clusters partners/owners.
  • Understands and communicates the value of the brand name as it relates to franchise partnerships and revenue management opportunities.
  • Promotes and protects brand equity.
  • Participates in quarterly regional reviews.
  • Understands and accurately represents individual property sales needs.
  • Performs displacement analysis.
  • Determines pricing options for leads – group, transient and catering.
  • Conducts need date evaluations and communicates information to Market Strategy and Revenue Analysis.
  • Conducts Diary Audit.
  • Creates group and catering forecasts for the property.
  • Enters, transcribes, records, stores, or maintains information in written or electronic form
  • Identifies the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
  • Analyzes information, identifies current and potential problems and proposes
  • Manages room authorizations, rates and restrictions.
  • Manages function space authorizations, restrictions and rental.
  • Manages rooms’ inventory to maximize cluster rooms revenue.
  • Develops and manages internal key stakeholder relationships in a proactive manner.
  • Acts as a liaison, when necessary, between property and regional/corporate systems support

Analyzing and Reporting Revenue Management Data  

  • Manages and maintains the transient rooms inventory for the hotel(s) and responsible for maximizing transient revenue.
  • Manages room authorizations, rates and restrictions.
  • Manages function space authorizations, restrictions and rental.
  • Releases group rooms back into general inventory and ensure clean booking windows.
  • Ensures that the hotel(s) sales strategies are communicated and effectively implemented in the reservation system and the inventory system and ensures that sales strategies and rate restrictions are communicated, implemented and modified as market conditions fluctuate.
  • Ensures property diagnostic processes (PDP) are used to maximize revenue and profits.
  • Prepares sales strategy critique.
  • Monitors transient and group inventory daily to ensure straight-line availability and maximization of revenue potential for all brands.
  • Supports cluster selling initiatives by working with all reservation centers.
  • Uses reservations system and demand forecasting systems to determine, implement and control selling strategies.
  • Ensures property diagnostic processes (PDP) are used to maximize revenue and profits.
  • Initiates, implements and evaluates revenue tests.
  • Provides recommendations to improve effectiveness of revenue management processes.
  • Ensures compliance and participation in company promotions and eCommerce channels
  • Ensures all hotels follow brand strategies that will maintain and/or increase the hotel(s) revenue per available room (RevPAR) and revenue per available square foot (RevPAS).
  • Auditing MARSHA and other systems for accuracy (post-opening)
  • Entering reservations & group blocks for pre-opening hotels.
  • Running reports from Marriott systems.
  • Loading rates and modifying room pools in MARSHA
  • Assisting in balancing the MARSHA & PMS systems.
  • Manages rooms and function space inventory and ensures inventory is allocated and restricted properly to maximize revenue and profits for the hotel.
  • Maintains the transient rooms inventory for the hotel(s) and responsible for maximizing transient revenue.
  • Releases group rooms back into general inventory and ensures clean booking windows for customers
  • Ensures that the hotel(s) sales strategies are effectively implemented in the reservation system and the inventory system.
  • Conducts analysis of revenue, profit and demand associated with hotel rooms and space inventory.
  • Ensuring that technical questions relating to MARSHA, Property Management Systems are escalated to the correct support desk.
  • Manages room authorizations, rates and restrictions.
  • Utilizes Marriott’s revenue management systems and tools to ensure that revenue and profit are maximized.
  • Effectively communicate brand specific revenue management philosophies as they pertain to One Yield recommended strategies.
  • Understands Revenue Management Inventory Services’ initiatives and philosophies.
  • Loading rate offers into High Performance Pricing.
  • Auditing MARSHA and other systems for accuracy.
  • Facilitating Business Evaluations (BE’s), forecasting and preparing and running sales strategy meetings.

Other

  • Travel required, approximately, 10-25%
  • Performs additional duties, departmental and/or total hotel related, as assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE 


Education and Experience

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Economics, or related major.
  • At least 2 years of experience in revenue management or related professional area. 

Skills and Attributes

  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent follow through
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Preferred knowledge of MARSHA related to building rate programs, implementing sell strategies, and building hotel information
  • Preferred knowledge of Property Management Systems
  • Preferred knowledge of Marriott’s revenue management System (OneYield)
  • Preferred knowledge of CI/TY
  • Ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated knowledge of revenue management concepts, tactics, and processes
  • Good understanding of brand standards, philosophies, and goals
