Soho House & Co is a collection of private members' clubs and restaurants, catering to those in the film, media, fashion and creative industries. The company has unique ventures throughout the UK, USA and Europe. In addition, we also have exciting new openings planned around the globe including Japan, China and India.

The Hotel…

Located on Poultry Street, this new hotel is one of the most exciting upcoming openings by Soho House & Co. The new project is a joint venture with Sydell group, a US hotel developer. We’re developing a Grade I listed building in the heart of the City to become a destination hotel with over 250 bedrooms. The hotel will have a gym, Cowshed spa as well as 9 restaurants, bars and extensive event spaces. There will also be member’s facilities, where members can enjoy the rooftop pool or in the member’s club.

The Role:

General Scope:

As Bars Manager you'll be responsible to oversee all bars operations including managing staff, ensuring product and service standards are met and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency.

Main Duties

  • To ensure that all beverages are prepared and served in accordance with bar and company service standards.

  • To ensure that all guests experience is priority at all times following The Ned ethos.

  • To ensure guests expectations and needs are met at all times.

  • To train the bar managers of each outlet to be able to meet these standards & expectations.

  • To direct the bar mis en place standards and implement processes that ensure bar mis en place is completed for services.

  • To be present in day to day services throughout different locations equally & where the business needs.

  • To help & assist with any functions that may be help within The Ned.

  • To assist & help create & implement seasonal drinks menus that are aligned with the site and company expectations and are financially profitable.

  • To ensure all menus online/offline are accurate and up to date at all times.

  • Set departmental targets and objectives that maintain and improve people, product and efficiency.

  • To manage outlet Bar Manager on a day to day basis through setting achievable & realistic objectives to help improve product & people.

  • To ensure stock takes happen weekly, take part in stock takes on a regular basis, thoroughly understanding of beverage costs and budgets and understand their impact on the business

  • To ensure that the right equipment and glassware is used in each site & in accordance to company standards, that equipment stock takes happen monthly and to attend them on a regular basis.

  • To be aware of each bar outlet’s financial targets and take positive action to maximize bar sales and generate revenue.

  • To ensure that the correct equipment and glassware is used on the bars and that there par levels and breakage levels are met.

  • To ensure cleanliness standards and procedures for the Bar and Beverage teams & their areas are in accordance with site, company and legal health and safety standards.

  • To ensure that necessary risk assessments are completed for all bar employees.

  • To attend daily site briefings and manager’s meetings and ensure open, effective communication between the bar and other departments.

  • To hold regular Bar Manager meetings and trainings and have open, effective communication with each managers & peers within the company.

  • To help assist with bars rotas that meet business needs and are aligned with wage budgets.

  • To be proactive with any recruitment needs, assess trials against outlet and company standards.

  • To develop the Bar Managers & Senior Bar teams through on boarding, on the job training, holding training sessions, House Tonic trainings and implement further development opportunities.

  • To hold regular coffee chats and yearly appraisals to ensure the individual development of the bars.

  • To ensure that the bar teams are appropriately groomed and wearing the correct uniform in accordance with company standards.

  • To motivate, support and direct all Bar teams and lead the team by example.

  • Liaise with F&B Controller on a regular basis to give feedback on variance against budget

  • To achieve score of minimum 90% on mystery shopper bar reports.

    General

  • Ensure the highest level of personal appearance at all times.

  • Ensure that you are on time for work.

  • Adhere to the company procedures for sickness and absence.

  • Be fully aware of the fire and bomb procedures.

  • Identify and report hazards and maintenance requirements in the workplace.

  • Any reasonable requests from Senior Management / Directors.

    Health and Safety

  • Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately and rectified.

  • Be fully conversant with all departmental Fire, Emergency and BOMB procedures.

  • Emergency procedures are rehearsed quarterly with attendance records, implemented and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees.

  • Ensure the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises, by strict adherence to existing laws, statues and applicable ordinances, and by anticipating possible and probable hazards and conditions and either correcting them or pre-planning a defence against them.

  • Stimulate and encourage a general awareness of Health and Safety in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken in the department.
