Job Summary

A New York based position, based out of the North America support offices, the Communications Assistant will work closely with the NA Comms Director to create and implement communications, marketing and public relations activities. They will be well-presented, charismatic, creative and highly motivated with meticulous attention to detail. The position will support the NA Communications Director and Manager as well as work with the local Marketing teams on press and event initiatives.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Administrative duties: Responsible for maintaining updated media databases, monitoring media requests, saving off coverage, creating coverage trackers and coverage books and updating weekly reports
  • Under the guidance of the NA Comms Director, pitch media placements for ongoing brand objectives in North America
  • Play a supporting role in launch plans for all new businesses, assisting with, where necessary, the creation of assets, assembly of invitation lists, launch event planning and subsequent wider outreach
  • Alongside the NA Comms Director, work with local teams and develop and maintain internal communications and reporting protocols between local markets and the NA Communications team
  • Support the NA Comms Director and local teams with marketing initiatives; bring to the table creative ideas for programming and engagement of internal and external comms chanels which will support business needs
  • Support the NA Comms Director and assist with the development of press releases, press kits, bios, media alerts and other relevant materials for use in press outreach
  • Play an active role in the development and nurturing of media relationships across the lifestyle, travel, food, fashion and design media genres
  • Under the guidance of the NA Comms Director, manage and analyse incoming inquiries as well as facilitate details surrounding press requests, photo shoots
  • Work closely with and assist the NA Comms Director on the development of press strategies for new launches as well as overarching brand initiatives
  • Be the eyes and ears for the communications and marketing teams. Report relevant industry news on an on-going basis, as well as social media trends
  • Keep a close eye on social feeds
  • Participate in brainstorms and contribute creative ideas for pitch angles, story ideas and event activations

Personal Profile/Qualifications:

  • A highly motivated Account Executive with 1-2 years of agency or in-house experience
  • Creative – proven track record of thinking outside of the box to achieve results
  • Good understanding of the industry and relationships with journalists across the travel, food, fashion, design and general lifestyle media genres
  • Proven track record of securing media coverage and generating thoughtful ideas for multi-platform media campaigns
  • Have a firm understanding of print, digital and social media landscapes
  • Experience with working on both intimate and grand scale events, including the development of guest lists and securing press coverage
  • Individual should be very detail oriented, organized and dedicated to do what it takes to deliver successful results
