Be an ambassador for our exceptional offerings as Wedding & Catering Manager, where you will liaise between multiple departments to meet the needs – and exceed the expectations – of your clients.  Hotel Overview: Known as the islands only all-suite oceanfront resort, the hotel is situated on Polo Beach in the world-class, master-planned destination of Wailea, on the south western coast of Maui. Here's an opportunity to join Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, a luxury hotel brand recognized worldwide for distinctive style and service. Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director, Conference Services & Catering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication

  • Create and Promote unique Wedding and Proposal packages

  • Use of Opera Sales & Catering to track, solicit, book and follow up on accounts

  • Create and distribute banquet event orders based on pre-planning information and have them signed by client

  • Make changes and any necessary adjustments in Opera Sales & Catering

  • Communicate all complete and accurate changes with hotel supporting departments prior to and during events

  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports, file maintenance and update marketing collateral

  • Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.  Attend community/social events and industry meetings

  • Professionally represent the hotel at all industry/community functions

  • Assist with reports, competition data collection and marketing material updates including packages, and collateral

  • Introduce and recommend preferred vendors as determined with the revenue goal of the hotel

  • Forecasting wedding and group revenues

  • Maintain good working relations with preferred vendors of the hotel and ensure adherence to function space policies and all codes and regulations

  • Maintain solid and open communication with all hotel operating departments

  • Maintain up-to-date information on program and food and beverage events

  • Attend all department and hotel meetings as necessary

  • Supervise support staff and provide ongoing training and support as necessary

  • Respond to all inquiries regarding catering space availability in a professional and timely manner

  • Build a partnership with the Banquet team to ensure service standards are maintained

  • Follow departmental policies and procedures
  • Follow all safety  policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Hospitality Management Degree or a Post-Secondary Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years catering/conference service experience in the hospitality industry required
  • Extensive Food and Beverage knowledge
  • Knowledge of meeting space capacities pertaining to health and safety procedures and terminology of meeting room set-ups
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must possess a strong sense of exceeding in providing quality service to our internal and external customers
  • Assertive, self-starter, self-motivator with a high degree of professionalism
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering system required 
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Physical Aspects of Position (includes but are not limited to):

  • Frequent walking, standing and sitting throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
