The Enterprise generally files 1 federal consolidated return which includes all 600 domestic subsidiaries and information returns for all 300 foreign subsidiaries. The group also files over 500 state income tax returns. The state income tax group is primarily responsible for state income tax compliance, forecasting and FIN48 for the Enterprise. The group also assists with state income tax controversy support and various state planning initiatives. Responsibilities
  • Candidate will report to the Manager State Tax and support the purpose identified above. Candidate must be comfortable working directly with business units, external service providers, and senior management.
  • The candidate will prepare 1) state income tax returns, 2) state apportionment workpapers, 3) state income tax forecasts (including calculation of Federal M-1 for state income tax deduction), and 4) FIN48 calculations.
  • The role also includes state income tax oncontroversy support and preparing modeling calculations for various state income tax planning initiatives. At peak periods, this role may assist with the indirect tax function.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 to 6 years relevant work experience with a broad knowledge of federal and state income taxation and experience in mining for data in accounting (ERP) and tax compliance software systems and doing tax modeling, forecasting & compliance.
  • Strong desire to broaden/build skills
  • Innovative orientation with a proactive approach to collaboration and problem solving
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to independently identify and resolve issues
  • Strong communication skills with ability to frame communications appropriate to audience
  • Strong information technology skills: Microsoft Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
  • Deliverable-focused, strong work ethic, and the capability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude; ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Understands cross functional impact and ability to build consensus with business partners
  • Good leadership and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven spreadsheet application skills and other database, automation or business intelligence skills (e.g. VBA, JavaScript, SAP, SQL).
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • CPA preferred
  • Previous work experience in controversy a plus
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent
Preferred Education
  • Advanced degree in Tax, Accounting or Finance or JD, preferred
