Job Description

We are looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer who enjoys problem solving and has a passion for supervising a team. Reporting to the Director of Engineer, you will be responsible for addressing a range of maintenance matters including guest requests, general hotel maintenance and safety as well as supervising and assisting other Engineering team members. If you enjoy variety in your day and are passionate about providing high quality maintenance support and finding solutions to problems in a busy environment – then this is a role for you.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Carry out preventive maintenance throughout the hotel to ensure standards are maintained for guest comfort
• Responsible for the overall energy management and conservations for the hotel
• Managing the testing of fire alarms and emergency lighting on a routine basis as required by local council and fire service
• Liaise with the Chief Engineer regarding use of contractors within the hotel, ensuring work is to the standard required by the company and manufacturer specifications
• Maintain records of repair work and daily checks as required by local council, Government and manufacturer specifications
• Work closely with Front Office and Housekeeping regarding ‘down’ rooms to expedite a quick turn around and return to inventory
• Ensure all staff are competent in the safe and effective use of equipment and chemicals in accordance with the manufacturers instructions

Qualifications

• A minimum of three years Maintenance Supervisor experience
• A self-motivated and able to work autonomously
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound understanding of all areas of Maintenance, OH&S and Manual Handling
• Ability to work on a rotating roster, which includes morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts
