Job Brief

As a Marine Biologist, you will be responsible for supporting the conservation of marine ecosystems, increasing awareness of marine biology, and promoting sustainability initiatives.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a highly motivated Marine Biologist to join our team in Constance Moofushi Maldives. As a Marine Biologist, you will be responsible for supporting the conservation of marine ecosystems, increasing awareness of marine biology, and promoting sustainability initiatives. Your role will involve conducting research, collaborating with Guests & Team members, and implementing conservation and sustainability projects.

  • At all times offer graceful, personalised and caring service towards all guests as you are an ambassador of the Constance Moofushi Resort Maldives service philosophy.  To embody in all your interactions with guests, passion and enthusiasm for service, focusing all attention on the guests 
  • At all times exhibit good posture and an elegant demeanor, and  speak in a polite and attentive manner
  • Always address the guests with their name, keeping eye contact and smiling
  • At all times take ownership of guests request and do not refer guests elsewhere
  • At all times adhere to the grooming and etiquette standards of the resort
  • Always display punctuality and good attendance as an act of responsibility towards the guest service and towards your colleagues  
  • Always be courteous, considerate, supportive and respectful towards other team members of FO and rest of the resort. Treat others as you would like to be treated. 
  • Present and conduct marine awareness talks; conduct orientation for guests and increase awareness of marine biology in the Maldives and the importance of our conservation work.
  • Guide and accompany the guests on scuba diving and snorkeling trips
  • Conduct marine awareness talks and orientations for guests to increase awareness of marine biology and the importance of conservation efforts in the Maldives.
  • Guide and accompany the guests on some scuba diving and snorkeling trips.
  • Work on coral line and long-term reef rehabilitation projects to restore and protect coral reefs
  • Assist team members, Local communities on some occasions and Resorts’ guests in educational programs, biological consultancy, and nature conservation projects, contributing to sustainable practices.
  • Study marine species in their natural habitats, assessing effects of environment and the resort on them, interpreting findings and recommending alternative operating conditions for the resort if necessary.
  • Make recommendations on management systems and planning for a healthy marine ecosystem, consulting with stakeholders and the public at large to explore options.
  • Provide Marine Life subject matter expertise to the sales and marketing department in Constance head office. This will involve disseminating information on marine conservation and sustainability through various channels, including writing reports, blogs, and sharing information’s on work place in addition, giving talks for guests, team members, local islanders, and other interest groups. By sharing your knowledge and expertise
  • Promoting our sustainability initiatives and attracting guests who share our commitment to marine conservation.
  • Perform administrative duties such as making posters for awareness, preparing presentations, filling out surveys from Ministry etc
  • Work closely with the Environmental and Sustainability Officer to develop and implement strategies for protecting and preserving the marine ecosystem in Constance Moofushi and promote sustainable Resorts practices.
  • Organize and conduct experimental studies in controlled or natural surroundings as and when necessary.


Minimum Requirment

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in marine conservation, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Passion for marine conservation and sustainability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, guests, and 3rd Party
  • Knowledge of marine ecosystems, coral reefs, and marine life in the Maldives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective conservation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of initiative and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • PADI Dive Instructor certification is a plus.
