We are seeking a Manager, Corporate Public Relations and Media Relations to join our team on a 14-month contract, starting approximately August 1, 2023. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic, award-winning team at the global corporate headquarters of one the world’s most iconic luxury hospitality brands.  We are looking for an innovative public relations leader to be an integral member of the diverse team that drives insight-driven consumer PR strategy for one of the world’s leading luxury and hospitality brands.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Public Relations, the Manager, Corporate Public Relations and Media Relations will be at the forefront of developing and implementing innovative global public relations strategies on behalf of Four Seasons.  They will be part of a dynamic team that collaborates with other cross-functional marketing leaders across the commercial organization to lead and deploy agile earned PR and media relations strategies, including brand announcements and industry-leading global media events.

Leading active collaboration with global PR agency partners, the successful candidate will work with top tier media to build and nurture key media relationships on behalf of Four Seasons, developing media materials and press releases to support global Public Relations initiatives.  The Manager will also play a key role in guiding the development and maintenance of PR best practice resources, working closely with Area PR leads, property PR Directors and agency partners, with the goal of optimizing earned media strategies at the property-level. 

This position requires a leader and exceptional communicator with a passion for the value of PR in driving earned brand awareness and preference among key audiences and increasing competitive Share of Voice.  The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is motivated and proactive in identifying gaps and opportunities and be able to lead and/or influence other internal and external team members who do not have a direct reporting relationship.  A keen eye for detail, the ability to work under extremely tight deadlines, and strong project management skills are essential.

This role is based in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Toronto Corporate Office , reporting to the Director, Corporate Public Relations. This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario . This role involves interactions with primarily internal stakeholders at various levels.

What You’ll Be Doing

Corporate Public Relations Strategy:

  • Working closely with the Director, Corporate Public Relations, lead the development and execution of innovative PR strategies that build brand preference through earned Tier 1 media coverage and advance leadership in Share of Voice (SOV) and Share of Prominence (SOP)
  • Engage the global agency network as an extension of the Corporate PR team in key media markets to drive earned media coverage and brand preference among key audiences
  • Guide agency partners in developing timely and relevant consumer-centric PR strategies that tap into trending themes and support commercial and company priorities
  • Leverage data insights to inform creative and innovative communications strategies
  • Develop strategic proposals and presentations.


Media Relations:

  • Work with agency partners to deploy agile and innovative media relations strategies that consider evolving media and travel environments and news consumption behaviours among key diverse audiences.
  • Develop innovative approaches to media relations to drive SOV and SOP across the traditional and social channels of key publications, developing supporting materials and measurements to track progress
  • Manage earned media relations efforts on behalf of the brand in collaboration with a primary agency partner for the US market
  • Offer ongoing insights into earned media trends to inform media relations strategy
  • Provide insight on media selection for corporate-led press trips, property collaborations and global brand initiatives


Writing and Content Development:

  • Lead the development of Corporate PR media materials inclusive of press releases, key messages, Q&A documents, and global roundup pitches.
  • Lead the development of spokesperson interview responses for global brand initiatives and manage approval process to meet journalist deadlines


Global Brand Media Events:

  • Project manage partner agency deliverables (liaison, logistics, budget and execution)
  • Support the development of strategic event narratives and concepts
  • Manage liaison between related stakeholders (hotels, agencies, etc.)
  • Manage on-the-ground event support and post event recap reporting


Governance and Best Practice Resources:

  • Develop and maintain PR best practice resources (property guides and toolkits) in collaboration with Area PR leads, senior property PR Directors and agency partners
  • Present best practice guidance (virtual and in-person) through webinars, conferences and training workshops


Insights and Reporting:

  • Work in collaboration with the Manager, Corporate PR and Earned Performance to identify actionable reporting insights and coverage drivers that can inform communication strategies and support strategic decision-making
  • Maintain close visibility into Four Seasons Press Room and Adobe Analytics reporting insights to inform communications strategies and ongoing platform innovation
  • Leverage monthly PR agency performance tracking and reporting, including YOY performance analysis to inform media relations strategy
  • Collaborate with the broader PR team to manage the PR recap report process for global brand initiatives, showcasing agency-generated PR results according to defined KPIs

  • Exceptional technical skills, including superior Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, and OneDrive skills
  • Strong PowerPoint skills
  • Working with Cision and other media monitoring partners
  • Internet and media savvy (traditional and social)
  • Knowledge of SharePoint a plus


What You Bring

  • Undergraduate degree/post graduate certificate or equivalent in Public relations, Marketing Communications, or a related discipline.  A Masters degree would be an asset.
  • Seeking an experienced communications professional with a proven track record and a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a corporate or agency environment.
  • Previous management experience in consumer public relations and media relations within an integrated marketing communications context. An excellent project manager with strong strategic acumen who can lead and execute multiple projects with diverse stakeholders. A leader with proven ability to develop and launch innovative and insight-driven communications strategies. Should possess both a creative and analytical mindset with a strong understanding of earned media monitoring best practices.  Luxury hospitality and/or luxury goods or services experience and understanding of luxury markets and consumers an asset.
