The Temporary Catering & Events Manager reports to the Director of Catering & Events and is responsible for assisting with a large number of groups for the upcoming month.

What will I be doing?

  • Confirm both social and corporate catering business for the hotel utilizing event facilities for current and future years to meet and exceed budgeted goals
  • Build extensive social network within the local community to foster direct lines of communication with key social and business contacts for future business opportunities
  • Add to and maintain local email contact list to keep local decision makers informed about the product and services
  • Arrange site inspections of total hotel facilities and services for local and regional event bookers and planners
  • Work with wedding planners to create the perfect wedding journey
  • Create weekly catering booking pace and administer weekly progress report on pace to goal
  • Assist in accurately forecasting catering revenue monthly
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and catering team to customize spectacular and original themed menus and event concepts
  • Work in conjunction with our in house audio visual provider regularly
  • Implement strategic prospecting plan for review and approval by DOS & DOSM
  • Actively participate, orchestrate, and initiate projects and meetings as required to achieve sales goals and hotel objectives
  • Implement and direct strategies for all catering market segments and ensure all department personnel are able to either meet or exceed booking pace goals
  • Maintain the hotel’s marketplace position as the city’s most elite venue within  social and corporate communities
  • Ensure all site inspections and client visits to the hotel are successful by planning carefully and communicating accurate details in advance to all departments
  • Knowledge of social tables/ Delphi
  • Consistently keep all catering and conference materials up to date with correct pricing and all current marketing materials
  • Recommend and develop seasonal direct mail and electronic direct mail offers by market segment in collaboration with the Director of Sales and Marketing.  
  • Generate high yielding business for all contracted rooms, function space and catering events
  • Ensure catering department is represented for all business critical meetings to include BEO, Resume, Pre/Post Convention, Site Inspection, etc.
  • Develop a catering action plan with strategies to meet goal and objectives in line with the business plan
  • Review all proposals and contracts and adjust them to changing market conditions as required
  • Work closely with Banquet Operations Manager for all related catering functions, and communicate client requests to relevant departments
  • Ensure banquet event orders are accurate and provide all relevant information to departments concerned
  • Be aware of current market trends and supply competitors activity to all relevant department staff
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the DOS, DOSM and Executive Committee members
  • Adhere to the Legendary Quality Experience standards set forth for catering and standard operating procedures

What are we looking for?



  • Candidates must have a track record of success and a minimum of 5 years in the hotel industry
  • Current or recent experience as a Catering Sales Manager or Special Events
  • Appropriate, professional appearance and presentation
  • Ability to balance workload that involves following up with past third-party clients & end-user group contacts, day - to - day obligations and growing future business
  • Very strong written, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong computer knowledge, with technical ability and/or aptitude to fully use Delphi and Springer - Miller property management systems.
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility to the customer and nimble at successfully negotiating business in person, and over the phone
  • Motivated personality who can confirm definite group business for the hotel without being “pushy”
  • Team player who fosters good work relationships with a positive mental attitude
  • Very detail - oriented and desire to proactively assist colleagues and guests who need help at anytime
  • Flexibility to accommodate administrative demands
  • Must be able to meet or exceed Catering goals while also directly responsible for wedding/social events and handle all wedding inquiries and servicing all brides.
