La Quinta Resort & Club is looking for a talented  Pastry Chef to oversee the pastry program!

Set against the rugged Santa Rosa Mountains, this luxurious hideaway has over 750 rooms, 5 championship golf courses, 41 pools, 190,000 square feet of meeting space, and 7 food and beverage outlets. This includes Adobe Grill, Centre Court Cafe, Plunge Pool Cafe, Morgan's in the Desert, Restaurant Twenty6, Marketplace, and In-Room Dining.

In this role, you will oversee the pastry program for the resort's outlets and banquets managing a team of 3 - 1 Supervisor and 2 Pastry Cooks - reporting directly to the Executive Chef.

The ideal candidate will be a hands on and innovative leader with strong attention to detail, organization, and a talent for developing others. At least 3-5 years of pastry chef experience with a diverse background in hotels, fine dining, and high volume banquets is required.

What will I be doing?

As that Pastry Chef, you will assist the Executive Chef to hire, train, supervise, schedule and participate in activities of chefs, cooks, and other personnel involved in preparing, cooking and presenting food in accordance with productivity standards, cost controls, and forecasts needs.

  • Assist the Executive Chef to listen actively and communicates clearly while interacting with customers to promote food products and directing staff activities.
  • Analyze feedback from clients and team members to make judgments in accordance with the direction of the Executive Chef. 
  • Take action to implement approved suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain working rapport with all hotel staff for efficient operation and service to the customer.
  • Organize and conduct meetings with the culinary team.
  • Assist the Executive Chef to create and implement new menus and individual menu items for all outlets based on current food trends and regional tastes.
  •  Invent menu selections for special banquet themes and parties in accordance with client budgetary guides and expectations.
  • Assist the Executive Chef to review staff performance and development, as well as accountability. 
  • Create developmental programs for line staff in order to promote a culture of innovation and growth.
  • Uphold safety procedures and cleanliness standards throughout kitchen(s) including walk-in and reach-in boxes.
  • Work alongside staff to ensure proper execution and timeliness of food production, providing hands-on support, as needed.
