JOB SUMMARY

Help Marriott achieve its vision to be the world favorite travel company by transforming the customer domain and identity management journey on our shared platform. Provide leadership for Privacy initiatives and Data Governance.  Manage relationship with CX business discipline and Legal teams to ensure iT processes, initiatives, and investment maintains company compliance with global and emerging privacy regulations.  This role will contribute to the integration and advancement of Marriott’s modernization & digital transformation efforts.  Partners with CX and Legal to define and manage an Enterprise Data Governance model and processes, and partners with Security to define changes in processes to support Data Governance.

Lead the business planning and modeling phases for Privacy initiatives with an understanding of priorities and the ability to clearly articulate iT capabilities.  Manages large-scale functional and cross-functional initiatives that require coordination across business discipline and iT to deliver incremental value against a multi-year modernization roadmap.  Help define and create the next generation of solutions to drive Marriott value by creating solutions that serve our business needs leveraging current and leading-edge technologies in an innovative and impactful manner.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • 8+ years’ relevant work experience with 5 years’ experience in policy and data driven programs or projects that include
    • Working with data driven initiatives, governance, privacy issues, or complex projects that touch multiple systems
    • Being passionate and inquisitive on proper usage of personal and company data
    • Experience in implementing processes across large organization
    • Managing relationships with business customers, iT organizations and external service providers
    • Ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, and decide and influence appropriate courses of action
    • Converting business needs into technology requirements and working within iT to manage project executions
    • 3+ years working with cross functional team analysts, project managers, and product owners
    • 3+ years managing iT development teams using Agile methodology
    • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and drive direction/focus
  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience/certification


Preferred:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Customer Experience and Insight business functions and applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Data Management and Reporting/Analytics related business functions and applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult.
  • Proven experience in planning, budgeting, and analysis within one or more business groups.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with executive and delivery teams.
  • Experience with development of program and project standards in a sourced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
  • Ability to understand and communicate the lifecycle of technologies and applications and to translate into business strategies for the client organizations.
  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls and partnering in a managed service environment.
  • Prior experience in customer domain, MDM, Profile Management, Privacy, data localization, and Identity management.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Business/Discipline Partnership

  • Provides thought leadership to business/discipline to align technology with business strategies
  • Provides input to discipline technology roadmaps
  • Participates in forums for technology governance and portfolio management and prioritization
  • Serves as the escalation point of contact for assigned discipline(s); leads efforts to resolve escalated issues
  • Prepares and delivers presentations on technology investments
  • Negotiates trade-offs within and across different solution platforms.
  • Provides insights on impacts of the timing of solution introduction and technology retirement
  • Fosters strong discipline relationships to fully understand business needs


Program Management

  • Supports or leads modeling and planning phases for new initiatives under consideration
  • Define roadmaps and processes to support business and IT goals
  • Document business goals and high-level requirements, providing direction to Business Analysts
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure Delivery to confirm proposed solutions are compatible with IT standards
  • Accountable for the development of thorough and accurate business requirements, validating that solutions will meet discipline needs prior to development.
  • Accountable for business case development. Partners with customer and IT Build teams to complete business cases by providing relevant IT information and monitoring its ability to meet all relevant IT standards.
  • Aligns projects with technology roadmaps and technology enterprise architecture.
  • Incorporates project plans, costs, schedules, and deliverables to meet business need and in support of the business case.
  • Monitors project risk management, creates and implements mitigation plans for each risk.


Financial, Contract and Risk Management

  • Provides input to discipline partners to develop annual budgets
  • Partners with other IT groups to provide financial transparency to discipline partners
  • Manages technology roadmaps to guide solutions along a common path as well as retirement or migration of lesser-used or expensive to maintain technologies.
  • Aligns with Security and Privacy to validate that processes are followed to protect and secure customer and/or associate data
  • Engages with Vendor Relations to develop service agreements with external companies on behalf of the discipline as needed


IT Governance

  • Follows all defined IR standards and processes (i.e., IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
  • Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk
  • Follows the defined project management standards and processes


Leadership Accountabilities

  • Mentors and coaches business analysts, software engineers, and program team members as appropriate
  • Actively drives maturity of IT operating model (i.e., participation in Communities of Practices) and continuous improvement
  • Serves as escalation for project managers, if required.


Service Provider Management

  • Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
  • Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources
  • Monitors Service Provider outcomes
  • Reviews estimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers for accuracy
  • Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients
