The Law Department’s Global Compliance Group provides strategic project leadership and legal support to attain desired results for Marriott’s Global Ethics and Legal Compliance program. One of Marriott’s core values is to Act with Integrity and we hold ourselves to uncompromising ethical and legal standards and business conduct.  This role will help support our culture of integrity by providing support for the Company’s Ethics and Legal Compliance program, working in close and confidential coordination with other Global Compliance Counsel, General Counsel, Chief Audit Executive, Internal  Investigations and other executives, business units and departments. 

The Manager, Global Compliance is an integral member of the Global Compliance team and will support compliance projects, including maintenance of policies, training, and Marriott’s Business Conduct Guide, relating to the following key risk areas:

  • Global Trade Sanctions, OFAC/SDN screening and the Company’s OFAC Compliance Program
  • Anti-corruption and anti-bribery, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act
  • Antitrust and Competition
  • Anti-money laundering
  • Owner and Franchisee due diligence
  • Other critical areas as designated by the General Counsel or the Global Compliance Counsel


This position will report to the Vice President & Senior Counsel, Global Compliance.

Specific Job Summary

Primary responsibilities and contributions include:

  • Assist in the development, drafting, and maintenance of compliance policies, standards and procedures in the key risk areas and related to the Company’s Legal and Ethical Compliance Program;
  • Manage the day-to-day-functions of the Company’s OFAC Compliance Program (includes oversight for the SDN Screening Program) and address owner due diligence matters, in close consultation with Compliance Counsel, including partnering with internal business partners to understand their business processes, applications and technologies, to continuously improve the Program;
  • Assist in the development, drafting and implementation of compliance communications, as needed;
  • Assist in the analysis of global legal regulatory risks and help support the coordination, implementation, execution and completion of specific projects in the key risk areas;
  • Assist in the development and drafting of compliance training and related communications, maintaining attendance records, producing attendance reports;
  • Assist in the facilitation and management of legal and ethical governance meetings and Continent compliance committees, including the Minutes for the governance meetings;
  • Support compliance and auditing frameworks including annual internal audits, including formal responses to Internal Audit’s annual audits of ethical and compliance policies (MIPs);
  • Assist in the development, drafting and implementation of the Company’s due diligences practices;
  • Coordinate closely with Compliance Counsel in EMEA and APAC as needed; and
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to maintain strong working relationships with functional areas and across global and departmental boundaries in the achievement of project goals and objectives.

Candidate Profile

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent qualifying work experience with an outstanding performance record required;
  • Minimum of five years’ business experience required; 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, and ability to meet simultaneous deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and communicate effectively, specifically:
    • Ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise manner in both writing and verbally;
    • Ability to interact effectively and develop positive, professional working relationships with clients as well as team members; and
    • Professional presence
