We are LEGOLAND California Resort - the place where FUN is built and memories are made! Across our Resort we have two fantastic LEGO themed Hotels, a Water Park, a SEA LIFE Aquarium, more than 60 rides and attractions, 20 food and beverage locations, and 14 retail stores – the opportunities here are endless!

Scope of Job:

  • Design, develop, deploy and assess training programs for technical services work practices, with special attention to maintaining rides and attractions.
  • Direct the planning, application and completion of the training program for Ride Maintenance engineers to ensure compliance of local and corporate requirements.
  • Facilitate the training and compliance with internal policies for specific operating departments.
  • Verify the preparation of trained technicians and personnel to complete inspections, testing, operation and use of rides, equipment and tools for Technical Services, with specific attention to the Ride Maintenance team.
  • Provide hands-on training of department personnel, including key individuals to assist in the training.
  • Provide immediate performance feedback, regarding the application of safety policies to Team Members while observing their work performance.
  • Administer training on ride and attraction operating procedures and work practices according to department programs, Codes of Safety Working Practices (CoSWPs) and local requirements.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to create learning content, training materials and assessment tools for the training programs currently established and/or those newly required.
  • Complete, file and track training documentation, create records for new training courses. Verify training data is efficiently entered and recordkeeping remains up to date for reporting.
  • Prepare collection of records for audits and inspections of attractions, particularly for DOSH and Merlin audits. Prepared as back up to escort and support inspectors and auditors.
  • Participates, as applicable, during third party audits and other resort compliance reviews, providing records and training materials for review
  • Audit the operational procedures of Technical Services department, specifically Ride Maintenance, ensuring compliance to resort and legal requirements and provide training as needed for gaps identified
  • Conduct inspections and audits to monitor the effectiveness of the developed health and safety programs and procedures.
  • Managers/supervisors are responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety & Security within their team. In particular, they confirm risk assessments have been carried out, that procedures are in place for all work activities and that all employees in their teams are aware of the Health, Safety and Security Policy and their obligations under it.
  • Ensure that safe working practices are monitored and that risk assessments and procedures are reviewed regularly. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are investigated appropriately and that where necessary, corrective action is taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
  • Support of the inspection and maintenance program of rides by the local team, as well as third party inspection bodies, are in compliance to Group Engineering policies.

    Background and Experience:
  • 2+ years experience in a position responsible for rides and attractions
  • Working knowledge of relevant ride and attraction standards and regulations, including OSHA, CalOSHA, DOSH, ASTM, etc.
  • Solid understanding of technical regulatory work practices, such as working at height, lifting, heavy equipment use, etc
  • Able to articulate technical knowledge and information with clarity and detail, while relating to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Ability to communicate procedures and processes with written materials, presentations and hands-on demonstration.
  • Experience in delivering technical training preferred, specifically relating to ride and attraction operation, maintenance and inspection.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate working processes to a range of people so as to influence others.
  • Consistent track record of identifying areas of improvement, identifying action plans and implementing change to influence a safe or enhanced work environment, product or work area.
  • Proficient in systems and programs to record training data and provide formalized reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • 2+ years maintenance experience in a mechanical field preferred.
  • Supervisor experience preferred.
  • Experience creating training material and facilitating training on technical procedures required.


Education

  • Degree level of education is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 hour training required.
  • Involvement in amusement ride industry organizations preferred.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities, travel and drive.
  • Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the resort site, and interact with employees and third parties.
  • Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.
  • Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.


Work Environment:

Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.

Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.

Other Requirements:

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.

Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.

Must be able to complete training and successfully pass testing for use of golf cart, heavy equipment, and specific PPE use.

Must be able to meet requirements for specific PPE use, such as body size and shape for personal fall protection equipment, grooming standards for respiratory protection, visual acuity for heavy equipment and control panel operation

**Compensation rates dependent upon skills and experience related to the opportunity $62,000 - $65,000 per year.
