Tucked into the natural beauty of the Utrecht Ridge, the historic Parc Broekhuizen is home to an imposing mansion, where the past and present come together in an elegant and inspiring way.
The history of the iconic Broekhuizen estate dates back to the fifteenth century. The decoration of the main house is executed in the Louis XVI style, which was very common in 1796.
After the description by fire and direct reconstruction in 1906, it has known various residents and functions. Thus lived the rich merchant Mr Cornelis Jan van Nellesteyn, whom died there in 1832 as well as the National Institute for Nature Conservation was housed there from 1971 to 1996. The main house and the outbuildings became privately owned in 1996, and followed by an ambitious renovation. The outside of the main house, the coach house and the orangery have been renovated under the supervision of the Rijksdienst door Monumentenzorg. The result is a monument of great class and enormous potential.
The site is bordered by beautiful, large old trees. Partly due to its location at some distance from the castle, the coach house has an independent appearance.
