Duty Manager

Reporting to the Assistant Front Office Manager, the Duty Manager oversees the daily operations, ensuring that the highest levels of hospitality and service are provided. Represents the property in resolving any guest related situation. Manages the flow of questions and directs guests within the lobby.

What you will be doing:

  • Manages the Orchard Hills Residences Singapore, MGallery guest experience through a seamless flow of processes.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example
  • Supervises and manages fellow colleagues. Manages all day-to-day operations
  • Handles colleagues’ enquiries
  • Has regular and close contact with guests to ensure in-depth understanding of feedback and trends
  • Handles complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others
  • Strives to improve service performance and provides services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention
  • Improves and provides service by communicating and assisting colleagues to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed
  • Trains colleagues on adherence to all credit policies and procedures to reduce bad debts and rebates
  • Cooperates with the Finance team and leads the Front Office team on credit policies and procedures
  • Supervises same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and property occupancy
  • Understands the impact of Front Office operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives
  • Understands colleagues’ positions and tasks, well enough to perform duties in colleague’s absence
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and working condition of departmental equipment, supplies and work areas
  • Carries out any other duties as and when assigned by the management and department
  • Adheres to Work Safety and Health (WSH) policies and procedures and ensures all direct reports and peers are trained in and follow WSH guidelines.
  • Perform other duties assigned

Your experience and skills include:

Knowledge and Experience
  • Diploma or Degree from preferably hospitality or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience with at least 2 years at a management level
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English and ability to communicate in a second language
  • Has knowledge of Opera (PMS) and POS
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understand and addresses guests and/or colleagues needs.
  • Train and motivate colleagues.
  • Create and maintain a cohesive environment for the team.
  • Focus on service with an eye for detail and an approachable attitude.
  • Work well under pressure, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues by exercising good judgment.
  • Prioritise and organize work assignments and delegates work effectively.
  • Self-motivated and show good initiative in a dynamic environment.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of guest and hotel information.
  • Possess good computer and property management system skills
  • Embrace and responds to change effectively
