We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance/Engineering Assistant Manager to join the opening team at Canopy by Hilton London City.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will assist in the overall Engineering and Maintenance department including H&S and Fire Safety of the hotel and Deputise in the absence of the Chief Engineer.

About the role
The Maintenance/Engineering Assistant Manager will assist the Maintenance Manager to manage the Maintenance Team, to efficiently maintain and ensure the highest standards on operations such as safety, security, maintenance and legal compliance. You will ensure that the hotel building is safe and efficiently maintained to meet guest expectations through the implementation of a comprehensive rooms, public areas, plant, and equipment maintenance program.
This role will give a great opportunity for an Maintenance/Engineering Assistant Manager to stamp there mark on the engineering team and play a major part in this company’s growth and development.
- Deputise in the absence of the Maintenance Manager in the running of the Department
- Ensure that all the hotel's technical processes and installations are maintained.
- To have a thorough knowledge of the operation of all plant, boiler and air conditioning and heating equipment in the hotel and maintain in an efficient working order.
- To know who to contact for all systems relating to plant, equipment and utilities
- To ensure all security/Health and safety procedures laid down by the hotel are strictly adhered to.
- Assist in the completion of the Preventative Maintenance program throughout the property
- Ensures routine maintenance contracts are adhered to and that service visits are carried out as per the contract
- Delivers Training and coaching to the team as well as regular individual and group training
- Shows awareness of market trends and can implement new initiatives
- Thorough knowledge of statutory regulations ensuring the business is always operated within the law
- You will be a confident communicator with proven experience of leading an engineering function and team within a similar environment

About the candidate
A Maintenance Assistant Manager or similar role with 2 years’ experience in a similar role in the hospitality sector. You will be hands on and have advanced knowledge of building management/engineering and the use of a central BMS system.
- Mechanical or Electrical background is essential, as well as strong knowledge of plumbing and temperature controls.
- You will be a dynamic team player with a flexible approach and have experience in managing a team to successfully achieve the hotel’s goals.
- You must have outstanding planning skills along with sound technical knowledge on air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical and mechanical aspects.
- You will enjoy solving problems swiftly with creative and solutions, offering advice and recommendations.
- You must have excellent leadership and communication skills and be committed to deliver great customer service.
- The successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours, weekends, and/or bank holidays.
- You must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role, documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates.
