Departmental
- Greets the guests and inquires about their interest in wine with their meal
- Provides complete information regarding wines and their compatibility with menu items
- Assists servers with wine service
- Checks back with guests to assure their satisfaction
- Hosts and manages hotel wine reception
- Is a Wine consultant for Conference Services and Catering clients
- Keeps in contact with wine storeroom to ensure availability and correctness of products
- Meets with purveyors to stay informed of product availability, potential new products, discounts, etc.
- Conducts in-service training for staff and inform others of new product
- Revises the wine list on a continual basis
- Makes pricing recommendations
- Depletes dead stock wines to keep inventories stable
- Communicates with the restaurant managers and Food and Beverage managers on a daily basis
- Creates wine programs and PR events to attract additional wine sales
- Performs server’s duties when scheduled
- Responds properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation
- Performs other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff
- Demonstrates a high degree of standards awareness
- Promotes teamwork and acts as role model
- Attends all scheduled training sessions
- Special Requirements
- Certificate/Diploma preferably specializing in hotel/restaurant management.
- Has 1 -2 years of relevant experience in 5 star hotels/resorts or reputable stand-alone restaurants
- Extensive knowledge of wines as well as menu items and their preparation
- Possesses management skills and upward mobility.
- Possesses business acumen, well developed guest PR skills and personal flair
- Be computer literate and fully conversant with food & beverage computer systems.
- Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in English and French language.
