We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Operations Analysis to join our team. The Manager, Operations Analysis will lead the Operations Finance - Operations Analysis team while collaborating with the Senior Director, Operations Finance to conduct a wide range of analytical work. This includes leading, organizing and supporting the Financial Analyst team in an efficient manner to build and present key operational performance metrics for various hotel portfolios to improve profitability while meeting multiple deadlines and deliverables. Strong leadership, organization, analytical, statistical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are necessary for success.

The Manager, Operations Analysis supports the monitoring, reporting and analysis on hotel performance, and supports the Operations Finance team by producing, with their team, regular analytical reports, and other ad hoc requests as requested to be used by Senior Management and other internal stakeholders. The Manager, Operations Analysis represents Operations Finance in various cross-functional work efforts and assists in Operations Reviews in order to help identify areas for improvement at individual properties. This includes the pre-visit package, occasional onsite participation, and post-visit production of the final report and follow-up.

This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 2-3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario .

Key Activities:

Regular Deliverables:

  • Continuously deliver the highest level of product with respect to financial reporting and analysis, internal control compliance, and business management; ensure this is done with both integrity and accuracy in accordance with USALI and GAAP
  • Oversee and review preparation of forecast, month end, quarter end, budget, benchmarking, and ad-hoc analytical and variance reports with adequate commentary highlighting favourable and unfavourable performance
  • Support annual hotel budget process, including but not limited to collaborating with third-party partnerss and Area Leadership Teams to provide preliminary KPIs to hotels in the global portfolio
  • Support the Operations Review process including on-site participation, and the preparation and review of the pre-visit package and final report
  • Assist in establishing policies, rules, internal controls, safeguards and data standards


Business Intelligence (BI), Analytical Tools and Automation:

  • Manage day-to-day relationship with Four Seasons IT BI team and third-party consultants to ensure continuous operation and presentation of accurate data across the various Operations Finance Enterprise BI products (Hotel Dashboard, ELT Dashboard, Operational Framework) and other custom BI products (Corporate F&B Dashboard, Residential Rental Dashboard)
  • Leverage Power BI to design and implement both structured and ad hoc dashboard reporting for both hotel and Corporate consumption, including the migration of existing reporting to BI comprising trend analysis, KPIs, and other performance scorecards
  • Proactively engage in identifying opportunities for improvement, including automating manual processes, continuously strive for improvement of processes and efficiency
  • Provide hotel users with support for BI systems and analytical tools


Insights and Innovation:

  • Anticipate needs and respond to information requests from stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Transform complex data into summarized meaningful and actionable insights
  • Present and provide meaningful commentary to stakeholders on both past performance and future opportunities across all identified areas of responsibility
  • Continuously drive process improvements and efficiency.
  • Search out and introduce new opportunities that benefit the business


Team Management:

  • Provide leadership to Financial Analyst team along with day-to-day oversight
  • Build out and organize thoughtful work plans, and even distribution and assignment of projects and tasks, leveraging strengths and providing opportunities for development
  • Demonstrate proficiency as a lead / power-user of company financial systems
  • Effectively onboard and train Financial Analysts as needed


Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with Financial Systems team to ensure timeliness and integrity of financial data
  • Represent both Operations Finance and the hotels on cross-functional projects and requests through collaborative efforts
  • Conduct effective meetings and conference calls; appropriately communicate and complete action items and next steps
  • Leverage Microsoft 365 suite of software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams to enhance communication, reporting, organization, and collaboration within the team and other groups


Key Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Five to seven years of experience in related hospitality or Financial Analysis role
  • CPA, MBA, or university degree in Hospitality, Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Working technical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry)
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently; additional languages an asset
  • Working knowledge of all departments in a full-service/luxury lodging operation
  • Advanced Financial Modelling skills
  • Experience with BI reporting platform (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), an asset
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Essbase / Smart View and hotel systems; PMS (Opera), POS (Micros), back office accounting (SUN / Scala) an asset
  • Experience with change management preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management skills, capable of working on multiple projects on a deadline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare and deliver reports, effective presentations and to facilitate meetings with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to lead, manage and develop a team
