OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for mending and altering material items used in the hotel, uniform, linen and guest clothing ensuring the hotel's established standards. Also responsible for all handling of associate’s uniforms for all departments in conjunction with HR needs and departmental standards and policies. Responsible for all hotel linen, terry, napkins control, inventories, sorting and storing.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
    • Operate the ironing and washing machines according to specifications.
    • Perform Embroidery and Maintain Inventory
    • Collect and issue employee uniforms.
    • Receive associates uniforms and hang them on conveyor.
    • Carry on daily uniform checks to ensure they are in good shape and repair any damages.
    • Maintain uniform and supplies par
    • Perform repairs of guest and employee clothing.
    • Ensure guest cloths and laundry are process and delivered following all SOPs on a timely manner
    • Ensure machines are properly working.
    • Perform laundry tasks as assigned.
    • Keep uniform software up to date
    • Sort dirty linen and terry to have it ready for collection
    • Receive clean linen from outsource laundry, sort organized and store as needed.
    • Perform full hotel linen inventories by-monthly
    • Monitor damages, stains and any other type of discarded linen/uniform and keep a clear weekly record
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout shift.
    • Exhibit a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with guests and fellow employees.
    • All other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Previous experience in a similar position.

Education: High school diploma.

Qualifications: 

Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain the confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

    • Two to five years seamstress experience
    • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length
    • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs on a regular and continuing basis
    • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
    • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary systems and equipment
    • Ability to operate all machinery in laundry/wet cleaning areas
    • Ability to endure working in areas of high temperatures with accumulations of lint


Technical Skills:   Knowledge of proper chemical handling procedures; familiarity with cleaning equipment and supplies. Knowledge on the use of Knowcross

Language:   Required to speak, read and write English. Non-English speakers will be considered if they have previous hotel seamstress experience.

Physical Requirements:   Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 80 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.

Licenses & Certifications:  State License preferred.

SALARY:

  • $22.50 per hour
