The Role
The position will involve counseling the Human Resources Team on various employment related issues including but not limited to internal HR related policies, training, employee leaves, investigations, recruitment and terminations, and contracting with independent contractors on various employment related projects, as well as responsibility for overseeing employment-related charges, subpoenas and litigation. This position will also be responsible for various non-employment litigation management and risk avoidance, which would include but not be limited to day-to-day litigation strategy with and management of outside counsel from the pleading stage through resolution and collaborating with the Company’s Risk Management Team on risk avoidance and risk mitigation. This position will also assist in other areas as needed from time to time in the Litigation and Employment Law Group, including responding to subpoenas and government inquiries, and resolving customer complaint issues and other independent projects as needed.
What you'll do
- Manage day-to-day employment counseling issues.
- Manage employment litigation and charges, manage non-employment defense litigation.
- Assist with other areas as needed, such as customer complaint resolution and subpoena responses, as well as other independent projects.
You'll be successful if you have
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to think independently and make sound decisions.
- Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
- Ability to promptly and effectively respond to questions and concerns from senior management, clients, and outside counsel.
- Ability to exercise sound discretion and judgment in making decisions and performing duties.
- Self-starter; ability to multi-task.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to handle large volumes of work.
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Admission to NJ Bar or admission to a state bar with ability to obtain NJ limited license.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a law firm, primarily in employment counseling and litigation.
- Experience with counseling clients.
