Be an ambassador for our exceptional offerings as Catering & Conference Services Manager, where you will liaise between multiple departments to meet the needs – and exceed the expectations – of your clients.  Hotel Overview:  The Fairmont Waterfront provides relaxed luxury on the West Coast coupled with a world-class Vancouver experience. Guests can enjoy simple, fresh, local and handcrafted artisan food in ARC, then visit our celebrated rooftop garden and honeybee apiary to discover where we source our fresh herbs and honey from. 

 Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director, Catering & Conference Services, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Confirm all event related information with clients
  • Establish and maintain rapport with clients, prior to, during and post conference, encouraging repeat business
  • Books function space for clients and co-ordinates and distributes applicable function details in a timely manner and with attention to detail
  • Builds creative menus and designs floor plans for events to ensure banquets and clients are in agreement prior to set up
  • Prepares sales contracts, event orders and conference resumes
  • Works with Sales to ensure proper coordination and distribution of applicable information concerning convention clients
  • Initiate billing procedures, ensuring any deposits and/or credit applications are received with adequate information and within an acceptable time frame
  • Conduct pre-conference meetings with clients and pertinent departments to confirm all relevant details are communicated
  • Conducts daily walk throughs of the function areas to meet/greet clients and ensure their needs are being met
  • Conduct and/or attend daily meeting to review event contracts and ensure last minute changes are communicated with appropriate departments
  • Generates business via direct face-to face sales calls, telephone, and written correspondence, including walk in inquires and site inspections
  • Acts as liaison between client and internal hotel personnel to ensure maximum guest satisfaction
  • Be available as requested for special duties dictated by clients needs or those of the hotel 
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures
  • Follow all safety  policies
  • Other duties as assigned




  • Minimum 4 years Catering/Conference Services or Sales experience
  • Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications, Opera Sales & Catering, Property Manager, and Social Table required
  • Front office, Reservations and Banquets experience an asset 
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Must possess strong food and wine knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Self motivated, displaying strong initiative and ability to make decisions independently
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Visa Requirements:   Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
