The 212-room Hyatt Regency hotel features a 120-seat restaurant, Graduate Bar Club Lounge, fully equipped 24-hr fitness center and flexible meeting space, including seven state of the art meeting rooms that can cater to more than 200 delegates. The Hyatt Regency is the choice for short stay corporate and leisure guests. 

The 116-room Hyatt House caters to Manchester''s ever growing demand for extended stay accommodation with spacious, apartment-style living with a modern, comfortable design to make guests feel at home. 

Well connected to transport links, the dual branded hotel is a 10-minute walk from the city center and in close proximity to Manchester Oxford Road railway station, which links the city to the rest of Northern England. 

A newly created role, the Director of Commercial Strategy will function as the leader of the hotel''s commercial activities and will have overall responsibility to maximise revenue opportunities through the use of strategic planning, strong leadership, understanding of domestic and international markets and business development activities. 

Reporting to the Hotel General Manager, the Director of Commercial Strategy will have indirect oversight of the hotels Sales and Marketing, Revenue Management, Events Sales and Marketing functions of the hotels. We offer you a competitive remuneration package and in return for your hard work and dedication your benefits include generous hotel discounts and complimentary hotel nights worldwide, to name but a few. 


About the Role 

Critical responsibilities include:

  • Develop a commercial strategy to increase occupancy, revenue and customer satisfaction for the hotel
  • Manage the commercial budget whilst driving total hotel revenue including room revenue, outlet revenue, groups and events revenue, room rate and resource revenue
  • Increase business from existing channels whilst creating new business development opportunities within the region and internationally
  • Foster internal relationships, collaborating with the General Manager, Sales & Marketing, Revenue and Events Sales Team to evaluate business opportunities
  • Manage the hotel''s PR and media activities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of property specific campaigns, promotions and collateral to drive revenue and meet property objectives
  • Implement applicable Hyatt brand initiatives and service standards in all aspects of the business
  • Foster external relationships and act as the senior customer-facing representative for all current and prospective clients, including site inspections and customer entertainment
  • Foster internal relationships to ensure a collaborative and informed approach to commercial activities
  • Report to the Hotel General Manager and interface regularly with the regional commercial teams and the Hotel Owner

About You

Experience and Qualifications must include:

  • Valid working rights in the UK
  • Substantial hotel industry experience in an equivalent role, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
  • Bachelor Degree in Business or relevant discipline
  • Strong organisation and analytical skills
  • Highly driven, organised and possess exceptional communication skills
  • Innovative thinker that will challenge business processes and concepts in order to drive results
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; must be able to deliver strong, professional presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to bring people together to work as a team and ensure success
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds
  • Must be a creative, innovative and strategic in developing marketing/advertising campaigns and be managing various social media platforms
  • Comfortable with sales and revenue systems/programs
  • Intermediate or expert skill level in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products
  • The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who is strategic and analytical with influencing abilities that span beyond their immediate direct reports
  • Able to travel within and outside the UK for business development opportunities and meetings when required
  • Must be a caring leader that builds trust and engagement by cultivating genuine relationships
  • Innovative thinker that will challenge business processes and concepts in order to drive results
